Going through the old school section made me realise that many of us will work on an aircraft that will go out of service during our life time. My question is this, how many have worked on an aircraft that has allowed you to grow close to it???.

I joined up to work on one aircraft (tonka f3) and god willing will do my entire 12 years on it. I make no apologise for this nor the hotels i have stayed in.

So what aircraft will you look nostalgically upon and say i worked on that,PDT_Xtremez_28:

Tell you what it beats some adminer saying i worked on JSP.............. or a stacker supplying.................

Has to be the old Nimrod MR1. Moody old girl, but proud to go anywhere with her. (Even Keflavik in the middle of the Cod War).

Hawks will always be held dear as it was my 1st type out in the real Airforce at a lovely little place called BRAWDY, as part of the Royal Welsh Air Force defending the country against the invading "Hoards Of Pikies" from across the water,
but these days its got to be The Mighty L-1011 as what else can you work on where you can plug your laptop in to the aircraft, watch loads of Porn and have Spoons to serve you Coffee and Pies??? :pDT_Xtremez_30:

Harriers will always be the memories for me.

Did a little bit of Tonka line work, but Harrier boys just seemed to have a different outlook on life.

Still remember being chased by a wild boar on deployment! Happy days. :pDT_Xtremez_30:

Best memories C130K, best engineering was the best of the V force - the Handley Page Victor. Bit of Hawk and lots of GR1 to add to the mix.

Phantom, Buccaneer, Tornado (GR1 & F3) but the only one that I have worked on and I now look back on with nostalgia was the mighty Vulcan B2 (including XH558 which was the first B2), never did the B1 or 1A’s – they were even before my time!

My types....

My types....

Worked on three types of aircraft for Her Majesty, well if you can call it work!

Firstly the Tornado Air Display Variant.

Then the mighty Wokka.

Escaped to the Jaguars.... loved them and still do!

Posted back onto Tornado F3's, but second line this time uuugh!:pDT_Xtremez_02:

Back onto Jaguars, only problem is I spend most of my time in front of a white board!:pDT_Xtremez_42:

Buccaneer, Hunter, Phantom, Tonka GR1, F3, GR4, VC10 and finally (I hope) Tristar. The only one to give me warm feeling in my groin when I think of it………‘Faster lower, Lower longer, who can beat the Buccaneer’

Hunter was pretty good too.

now then Cap'n... don't be modest... what about your time on Typhoons?? Hawker Typhoons!

Have you still got that Vulcan model plus sad diorama on your desk? Perhaps you need to do a feature on it on here...

Well for me the Nimrod MR2 since 91 but flown first time as a spacey in 86. Ive done most my career on old birds including the Wessex and Ill be honest you only become a proper techie if you worked on the old aircraft ,its how i learned to be a Rigger on the rod. Im glad ill see the last few years out of the Nimrod too but I would never change that for the world.

Real Linies fix real aircraft ::p:
