Handy little link to a calculator which works out how much you will pay in 2009 and 2010 for your car road fund tax. some suprising results........

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/

:PDT_Xtremez_43: i hope you don't drive one of these.........£££££££££££

I will be paying exactly £0. In fact, I will even be getting the tax disc too for free! :PDT_Xtremez_17:

Oh, and yes I do drive a Land Rover, namely mine. :PDT_Xtremez_28:

Hmmmmm £15 extra for 12 months worth of Gas guzzling V6 3 litre fun......worth it in my books !

Crack on..................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

TBJ, you need to buy something like a big Ruskie truck. I believe they are exempt from road tax due to age, and also exempt from MOT because of what they are. :PDT_Xtremez_14:

Just give me another reason to not vote for this failed Government-would have been zero but Gordon was the man that said no classic cars were built in Britain after 1972.
Now I know in the 70s there were lots of strikes but least we still built things then & getting to 25 years old was something to be proud of. Rust In Peace my old Capri but when road tax is more than your car you will understand anyway your birth place is proberly a housing estate now.

Dont know yet.
I will be getting another motor in the next few months.
That Parkers tax guide has been on me screen quite a bit though!
There are quite a few larger engined family cars that will end up costing £400+ by 2010 for tax. That more than the insurance FFS!!!

Must admit my road tax is approaching my insurance.

£185 this year, and next.
Insurance, £240 this year, comprehensive inc breakdown cover.

Where from???
Saga. It's good to be older........................:PDT_Xtremez_31:

Well mine is £185 for this year and next then upto £200 not bad. I only use it at weekend or for when i work away. Just wish they would cut the tax on fuel at present.

Not a Stealth Tax

Not a Stealth Tax

Don't forget this is not a stealth tax, it is a measure purely aimed at some kind of green motoring claptrap CO2 emission solution, so that we will all drive around in diesel Citreon C2s.

Definitely not a stealth tax then

Mrs Grumpy drives a Citroen diesel, and pays the same road tax as my petrol 4x4.........

Hmm, currently £210, going to £440 in '09 then up to £450 in '10. :PDT_Xtremez_17: FFS, it's only a little VW Golf. :PDT_Xtremez_35:

My car only does 5000 miles a year so it uses about 166 gallons of fuel, a supposed economical "greener" car doing 45mpg over 12000 miles a year will use about 100 gallons more. Just which car is causing the more pollution, yet which one is being taxed more for polluting less? :PDT_Xtremez_21: Common sense would say that the more fuel you use, the greater the pollution you cause, so you pay at the pump anyway. To try and screw it onto the vehicle itself rather than it's usage is a badly thought out policy - from this bunch of clowns, that's nowt new. :PDT_Xtremez_25:

Thanks Golden Brown and the other cretins of New Labour, you've made my car worth bugger all on the second hand market. ::/:

It's the old arguement about the road tax being transferred to the fuel.
The more miles you do do, and the more wear you put on the roads, the more tax you pay.

Seems fair to me.

My Passat is going up more than my 4x4 :0 WTF is THAT about Gordon ? This is just another reason why I won't be voting Labour ever again.....

Road tax is just another nail in labours coffin. Seems to me that they're having a competition to see how many ill conceived ideas they can turn into policy that will adversely affect the people they are supposed to be representing! Hell will freeze before I vote for a labour government :PDT_Xtremez_25:
