I've just seen on the ACOS Manning website that the first joint TG4 SAC-Cpl Board is Scheduled for September. They are allegedly looking for 95.

How do people think that the promotion ratio will be split between the old TG3 and TG11??

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?!??! I wonder how many Ab Initio's will be in that elite group? From what I've seen of late, there aren't 9 candidates suitable. But that's my opinion...

Feel free to ask why...!

Some of my reasons. Otherwise i'd be here all day...!

Biggest problem I have been increasingly noticing is ATTITUDE! People, especially on the Wing seem to expect promotion as well. Quotes like "I've been on the wing for three years, I should be an A Grade candidate" when the situation is, they try to slope off to have breakfast every morning (around 9am), mooch around the office when they come back picking their ar$es and ask if they can play "sport" from 1400-1500 and expect not to come back in after. And when they are asked to come back, they're like Kevin off the Harry Enfield Show!

If they were more pro-active with their time and actually showed potential leadership qualities, then they'd deserve the tapes they so covet.

Also, little snipes like "you're not my Cpl" p!ss me off, and subsequently they get a lecture about this crazy thing called the rank structure that seems to be fast eroding. Not too long until the LAC is calling a Sgt a cnut!

FFS, these guys are early to mid twenties and act as if they are at school. It really does perplex me how they expect to get picked up when they show no real evidence of any effort or respect....!

P.S Good luck to all those on the lottery. See you on 90 SU where you're going to get mega headaches doing two jobs. Yours and that of a parent!

I have to agree with you Chumpzilla, but I dont think it's the TG4 itself, it's the generation of kids that are in it that are the problem.

I noticed when I was on the Wing not so long ago that the younger guys n gals that were coming in as original TG4 types had proper sh!tty attitudes, not listening to the more experienced SAC's, gobbing off left right and centre, and just generally being the yobbo's that the yoof of today generally are.

Moving on to my new posting, theres a handful of originals that buck that trend, but I'd be willing to bet that a lot of new trainees in any trade are the same.

Back on topic though, I really hope the board do want 92, I might actually get some tapes this time around!
(It's about bloody time, I did 4 years on the Wing you know!! :PDT_Xtremez_14:)

Well Dragoon, 4 years is a completely different kettle of fish! At least you aren't expecting to get your tapes off the back of experiencing 1 type of posting!

Good luck!

Who is at fault?

When I was on the Wing not so long ago there was an influx of Sgts & Cpls who would not say boo to a goose, let alone a gobby SAC, it seemed to me that the because a lot of the 'grown ups' did not want to be there they seemed to have a rather resigned attitue of not really caring what went on around them.

I was fortunate to have a rather grumpy, old skool SNEC who you would not mess around, IMO more people like him are needed.

I reckon 30% TG4, 43% TG3 and (does the math) and 40% TG11.

Will they take into account the different assesment styles and trade 'personalities' of 3/11? It will be interesting to see.

I appreciate the argument. I am in the minority of those who actually give a damn.

But. Why should we be constantly telling people off the adults-of-a-reasonable-age when they try and constantly flaunt the rules, and then expect recognition when they do a det??? We all do dets, and it frustrates the backside off of me when they later come bleating about how they have had their character assassinated when it come round to reporting time.

I also understand in the downtime phases, it gets very tedious. But what's stopping them going out and organising a trip or exped.? I used to when I was an SAC, as well as having a charitable secondary duty and station sport to boot. That's why they are bored and gobby, it's their hobby. I find it embarrasing to find that grown adults can't use their time more productively instead of just being general nuisances.

Why should the few NCO's care if the guys underneath them clearly aren't bothered? Again, it's frustrating. I try and suggest something fun, and as soon as the small matter of price rears it's ugly head, they just turn their noses up.

As a closing point, is it really in a JNCO's TOR's to be a babysitter for the spoilt brat acting children that we have to work with? I'd love to see it. Maybe it's in Appendix 27 to QR's....

Sometimes it's just like pi$$ing in the wind...

Smacks of making the system work IMO. Why aren't they in the mix in the conventional sense as oppose to having their own 'seperate' pot??? :PDT_Xtremez_25:

It doesn't effect me personally, I just think it is dissapointing to deliberately promote 15 who may not be suitable for promotion just yet, just to prove that the higher echelons made a whizzer of a choice!

Yes, but...

Yes, but...

Back tracking a little, but does anyone have any info on why the board has been delayed?

Our boss returned from a recent TG4 briefing saying that the 95 to be promoted were to offset the TG4 Cpl FMDL which is apparently sitting at 87% (SAC 93% and Sgt 95%). The solution? Promote lots of SACs!

IMHO, promoting 95 will probably pick up a few ab-initios, but if they're worth it - why not? There's always been movers and shakers who get promoted quicker than the norm and, from experience, people tend not to like them because they've been successful! I'm not considered a mover or a shaker, btw...

I've seen a few ab-initios and had a few working for me and I have to say that they've done ok. In the majority, they would like to follow the TG3 (RIP) route - i.e. a proper job :PDT_Xtremez_30:

This is very weird, I have heard they only want 57!

Sorry for the interruption, but what is an Ab-Initio?

Thankyou
