JPA Offline 23 Aug - 3 Sep 13

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Of course there will, they just won't tell you!

Not being informed is nothing new.

Back in 1984 I was given 9 days notice of a posting to Bruggen, those nine days included two Saturdays, two Sundays and five days on a cryogenics handling course.

My posting notice had been sat in Honington PSF for 6 weeks when I found out.

Surely PSF will operate some sort of enhanced service to compensate for the JPA downtime? Will they be available out of hours to cover shift workers?

What enhanced service would you expect from PSF? Bearing in mind they have no access to jpa either? Not looking to start an argument, just interested to know what you would want from admin when jpa is down

Do end users have the opportunity to back up all their personal data?

Ten days downtime on a computer system is asking for trouble.

oracle

oracle

Bearing in mind there is a license cost per user month for this system, and there are a lot of users, one would hope this down-time adjustment has been taken care of by MoD invoicing?

Ha Ha Ha Ha ha............ sorry.

I wonder if they get a discount. Oracle license is horrendous especially of they apply it per machine?
Hopefully it's not an Oracle upgrade as it will grind to a halt the was MOD uses it.

Its been advertised since at least mid-April. As far as I'm aware, HR/PSF will have taken back-ups of the stuff they need to (ie NOK).

If anything, PSFs should be sent on block leave over that period, leaving one, maybe two, for emergencies. That way, when it comes back up, they are all back, refreshed and ready for the deluge of paper leave passes from people and Line Managers that failed to notice the warnings 5 months ago!

Either that or they could take all of their training afternoons over the JPA shutdown in one go meaning they'll be experts by the time they get back and removing the need for any further closures till Xmas.......:PDT_Xtremez_31:

An ideal time to update those critical CCS skills on gate guard then.
