Now JPA has been delivered to the masses, how are all the Shiney's finding it? Any tips, tricks, shortcuts or just good old fashioned know how would be helpful. Goddamn DeskTopManuals are shi'te, and refer you to the JPAC who refer you to the DeskTopManuals who refer you.....I think you can see the pattern.

Anybody got any horror stories, like one of the guys here who's days away balance was hugely wrong.

Also I see the first boll*ck has been dropped with the leave being corrupt.

What JPA?

What JPA?

We're still migrating and won't be FULOP till after Easter. Leave passes still on paper during the transition... :-)

Trainings been a mare though, PCs did not have Flash media installed. :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Yeah we're still having problems with Stn IT getting the necessary software on, even though they assured us numerous times that they were ready for Go-Live. Currently our oldstyle 'devolved users' cannot access many parts of JPA.

Days away totals seem to have 100 days lopped off them. I assume as qualification is now 100 days thats how we qualify, by having a hundred days lopped off our totals. Hope I am wrong as this will lead to a lot of hacked off people.

Hmm Girlie in our Adjury told me it wasnt live yet due to technical issues. will be great if we have problems same as Lits the other week :PDT_Xtremez_42:

our one and only terminal doesn't work here!. JPAC???....more unhelpful than a raiilway worker!. All the briefs said..."no worries You may be out of area for the handover but You will be ok and have full access to JPA".....yeah right!.

it's all pish!! what's the old saying.... 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!' can't really see any point to JPA other than it's a cost cutting excercise in getting rid of PSF wallahs.

tbh, bring back SAMA, (view of a TG17 NCO) what a waste of space, time, money took 2 hrs today just to assign someonw to Stn!!!!! god how i long for the good old days of SAMA.

rumours are rolling

rumours are rolling

We too heard of the problems.....No leave this month or additional/ special pay this month until they sort the teething troubles out.....(you really thought they would have sorted the teething troubles out- due to the lack of dentists?)

Well Redundancy signal out tomorrow I think guess this clears the way to dump all the PSF people. The ones I have spoke to seem to have the nothing to do with us now read the book attitude.

Will have to see how it all works out in the end.

Unfortunately, there is a lot that we are not allowed to do for you under JPA.

Believe it or not we are in the same boat as you as we have to go through the dreaded JPAC as well. 5 years in the making and not 1 training course on a system (ORACLE) that has been up and running for years!

All the Adminers on my Station are constantly phoning and asking each other if they have worked out how to do things that under SAMA took seconds.

Not Impressed

Not Impressed

Here's my thoughts.

JPA has been running here for a few days. It is, without exception, mind numbingly slow. It doesn't look like anyone gave any thought to ease of navigation around the system and consequently it is grossly unintuitive. It is littered with management and HR speak which no normal person understands. Try searching for a new location or assignment in the choice of postings bit. It just doesn't make any sense.

The training package was very poor and I don't think it actually taught you anything. Having completed it I still don't know how to submit a 1771 (remember those....aaaahhh happy days!)

All in all I'm far from impressed and have zero confidence in a system that looks like it was bought on the cheap and implemeted with minimum thought.

I'm just glad I'm not a PSF type person - I don't envy you guys the turkey you have been sold. Still as someone said in an earlier post at least we are all in the same boat

Cheers

JPA Bah!
Leave doesn't equate to what I have left. No re-engagement showing. Told I can't post any leave yet, 'cause they're (who are they??) playing catchup! My lifed Q's are all up the spout and not showing their actual dates. I have now been waiting 3 weeks to submit a 'F1771', told not to yet!!! The cascading manager type thing (to authorise leave etc..) isn't working. Upon phoning the 'help' desk I'm told they cannot help as all the 'personal' info isn't in and to contact my 'HR' department. Phoned my 'HR' dept (PSF), who were sympathetic, but had tied hands and I have to wait for the 'catchup'.

Good to see another well tried and tested IT system implemented with all the full support and training packages implace before going live.:PDT_Xtremez_06:

It's Gawn....

It's Gawn....

Sorry old chap. As soon as JPA started, so did the new regulations on seperated service. All previous credits are wiped and you start again. Also DWR credits have gawn as well. You have to read the new regulations - most of which are hidden away in the new Joint Service Publications (JSPs) for JPA. These changes were made on the quiet.

Just another way of the Service screwing the serviceman (and ladies) out of dosh.

How many other changes came in at the same time as JPA? - well not many people know because they keep it hidden in obscure books for which the links are not readily apparent.

Do a search on the Defence Intranet for JSPs. I think the JPA ones are in the 700 series but then I'm a Techie not a Human Resources Administrator (Scribbly).

New Password Today

New Password Today

Got my new password today - spent most of the day just making sure my bank details were right so i stand a chance of getting paid! Bloody thing crashed twice, locked up several times, told me it couldn't find the server 4 times and most of the time just sat there doing nothing - bit like me really!

I'm lucky, I have access to my own computer - dread to think what it's like for people who have to queue!

Hang on a minute I thought all we were doing was changing to a multi tier system from the old - low, middle, high one. low = 1 , mid = 2, high = 3, then onwards. Thus meaning we still get the same LSA rate as the old LSSA when we switch but can go up to something like 24 levels.
I wasnt far off high level (3) either :PDT_Xtremez_25:

Still being OOA we have had so much fun trying to get access to JPA!. Firstly our home unit will not give us our passwrods. Apparently our HR staff will sort us out and input all our data....this came from JPAC!. Hr say ....no they don't...JPAC do it!. Well at least the queues should have gone down by the time we get back.....We shall see!.:PDT_Xtremez_09:

a wee question to the 'senior' members of the Goat: SAMA's been about for around 15 years. was it as a big cluster-fcuk as this HR tool is when it was first introduced?
*slaps oneself in the pus for using management-speak*

To answer your question, it was pretty bad. However, the thing about SAMA was that it was built (albeit, thought about in the 70s, using 60s technology and delivered in the 80s) to compliment the processes that were already in place. JPA is completely new and has been bought off the commercial shelf. SAMA, however, is not the problem. I believe that the real issue is with the Main Frame computer at AFPAA Innsworth. It is really past it's sell by date, the company that makes the valves has gone out of business, the boffins with the technical expertise have now retired for a second time and the thing is about to fall over and die.
