Appologies for dragging up an old thread, but....

Does anyone have an idea how long after your 15 yr point the LS&GC medals are currently dropping into OC P1s mail tray?

Mine was virtually to the day. If you look on JPA it will show if the medal has been awarded and if it has it could be worth ringing up....

Charges don't count I believe, its formal warnings. I had 2 charges and still got LS&GC

Charges do count; however, it depends on the nature of the offences committed. Conviction for some of the more serious ones (such as theft, assault, getting commissioned etc) could permanently bar an individual from receiving the award, others (such as late for duty) would not - unless there is a profusion of minor offences (IIRC the magic number is 4).

Breach of the peace and dangerous driving obviously not serious enough. I've got away with loads worse.

Unless it was 3 weeks late.

FWs are a little more serious and offer you the unexpected opportunity to get up close and personal with the Staysh.

It's not always clear cut whether it affects the LS medal, but if it does, what the hell; it's not like it gets left in the bottom of a bucket of cash for you. S'just another gong.

Most FWs are delivered below Stn Cdr level. A more serious charge could well land an individual in front of their CO and could lead to a spell if 'military corrective training' in East Anglia.

The 2 items are separate. A charge being disciplinary as the individual is accused of breaching the law of the land. A FW is administrative and 'warns' the individual that their conduct has fallen below the necessary standards. A FW can follow a charge (military or civilian). Both the admin and discipline systems can lead to discharge; although only the discipline system can fine you or send you to jail.

Plate tectonics aside, I thought Colchester was in Essex.:PDT_Xtremez_14:

I received a notification via JPA that I qualified for the LSGC and that I should contact P1 for collection. Notification arrived about a week after my 15 year point... IIRC!

P1 told me that it may take a few months for the medal to physically arrive and that they would contact me when it arrived and when a Presentation Ceremony had been organised.

Luckily, the date that was arranged I was unable to attend... so I collected mine from the Station Discip office (I am at a training camp) a couple of months later.

Once I had collected the medal, I replied to the JPA Notification that I had received it... you can also refuse it if you wish!?:PDT_Xtremez_35:

This all happened within the last few months (my 15 year point was in June).... so it's probably changed since then!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Off TopicNot really properly dangerous though was it :PDT_Xtremez_14:and yes you did:PDT_Xtremez_42:Off Topic

Overtaking an ambulance over speed bumps in front of the MT WO, the ambulance had virtually stopped and there was loads of room to squeeze by. And yes if I owned a Land Rover I would drive it like that Sir!

I met the Staysh, but mine was a "show trial" - I still have the court illustrators sketches of me looking "Stoic and unrepentent" to prove it.

Didn't go down and got the gong, so comsee comsar.

HTB,

The process is still the same... My 'entitlement date' was mid Nov 11, and today i got a JPA notification that it had been processed, and that I'd be issued it in due course...

Can any shiney explain the process for your bar after 30 when you are long gone?

This year any absence of LS&GC becomes obvious, 10 years since the QJM ... QJM and no LS&GC: Let the rumours fly!
