Due to march out this quater in feb, any tips so we dont get billed would be appriciated.

I just did a march out for somebody, he was billed for toothpaste filling holes for picture hooks (polyfiller is acceptable or leave them in) £200 for disposing of a BBQ and home made rockery left in the garden (I moved it to save him money) Dirt in the gaps between the windows and frames on the windows that open, oven not absolutely spotless, carpets not steam cleaned because he had dogs, garden needing re-landscaped where his dogs had dug and items left in the attic.

If you're getting disturbance allowance you will save yourself a whole lot of hassle if you use some of it to get a cleaner in that guarantees march out quality cleaning.

What he said, lot less hassle

^^^ What they said ^^^

You'll be able to sleep and probably be better off financially.

Last marched out from Laarbruch in 1999 and I agree with "Wot the above sed" - but make sure the families office (or whatever they're called now) and the cleaner know what's required of them!

If you cannot afford the whole shebang. It's the cooker and the carpets. Go for the big ticket and big effort items.

If you cant sort the windows on your jack, there is no hope for you, but dont forget all the little corners.

Can't speak for the gardens.

Make sure you get the list of faults that you were given on the march in.
1. Are the carpets life ex and due renewal.
2. Are you due a paint
3. If you have had pets you mst get the carpets cleaned and produce the certicate of proof
4. If you are billed for an item ie carpet for replacemen ask for either the carpet or the destruction certificate, sneeky gits these people.

I understand a lot of places now will have the option of you paying i.e. £250 and walking away, can't fault that.

The lad I marched out for would have had a bill for £575 if I hadn't helped him out, on top of that is the effort he put in himself so £250 seems reasonable. Last I heard an oven clean alone costs £60, my last one took me 3 days to do constantly soaking it in Mr Muscle. I hear sonic baths work wonders on them, whatever they are, also avtur

Come on! Lazy reasty family living in a quarter, ooh can't be arsed to clean my cooker after use and I'll let my dog do its business where ever it wants. Lets pay out 250 - 300 cause I'm some one you don't want too move in to a house afterwards.

30 odd years and several march outs later and I have never been billed.

My wife has always gone to her family a couple of days before march out and I have had several bull nights in the house after wards.

Don't be a lazy tw*t. Do it your self. If you have kept a half clean gaff and not let it reast like some of the Goaters on here who have had to call in the specialists have, then its a one day job. Save your DS whilst you can.

You've been a lucky ****** who has been able to get leave in between postings I take it then? Not all Sections make it quite as easy.

After 16 house moves in the last 21 years I can only offer one piece of advice - get a cleaner in.

Sonic baths are usually fairly small and are used for sure in engine bays to clean small components. As for oven cleaning, try that stuff that was advertised a while ago whereby you take the grids out and put them in a poly bag with this particularly nasty stuff, leave for a while and hey presto, good as new.

Tried the poly bag thing, its OK but doesn't get rid of stubborn carbon deposits, great for grease and grime etc.

If you can get some concentrated ammonia, soak some rags in it and place on a plate in the bottom of the oven and leave for a while then clean as normal. Beware that ammonia is nasty sh1te so plenty of ventilation and wear rubber gloves when handling, safety specs wouldn't go amiss either.:PDT_Xtremez_19:

Are you suggesting I urinate in the cooker on my next marchout? I'll let it be known I heard about it here if they get upset.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Whilst I loathe giving some scroat 300 squids to clean the house when the wife will do it for free, it honestly is the most pain free way to give up quarter. The cleaners have to get it to the same spec that you do, and the charge is based on the state your house is in (so if you've let the dog shyte everywhere, be prepared for a much larger bill!). My only other advice would be to do the garden yourself as, generally speaking, they don't need much but the charge the DE levy on getting it sorted can be rediculous. For example, I cut the grass at my last MQ down to about half an inch long not more than 2 weeks before my march out. This had grown to about 1 / 1.5 inches by march out date, and was deemed 'a bit too long' by the DE bod. My adivce - cut it down the shortest length possible a day or two before the march out. They tried to charge me 100 just to get the grass re-cut!

If you p1ss concentrated ammonia, you are a dangerous cookie to be around!:PDT_Xtremez_30:
