" Military chiefs bought 90 of the machines as part of Operation Astra, an initiative to encourage greener travel. Officials say the move has reduced use of a shuttle bus that ferries staff between three locations....."

I've checked the calendar it's not April 1st.

Perhaps they could have some one with red flag walk in front of them, lol.

Can’t see many used around yours, they’re not to good with hills.

I was on a course at the Regent in Donny these last 4 weeks, the area was swarming with the damned things.

Loads around Lincoln area, nice and flat so they can get up to a good speed on the pavements. There's even a chap that has a monowheel that regularly dices with the traffic at around 40 MPH. He wears what appears to be full motorcycling gear so he'll be fine when he hits and hospitalises poor old Mrs Miggins who doesn't see or hear him coming the wrong way up the cycle lane. Hopefully he's got good insurance cover, oh wait, he can't get insurance for an illegal activity.

Statistically they’re about as safe as cycles, there will always people who don’t behave as they should, however, the police as usual appear to targeting the otherwise law abiding sensible majority of users.

Bring in registration, insurance and regulations so that people can be law abiding, after all making something illegal has never managed to stop anything else that the general public think they should be able to do.

At risk of raising the dead are these scooters still a thing.

£45,000 would be a terrible waste if they are no longer in use.
