If you were on SH in the 80's, you might have remembered a little beast called a "Donkey", which was a bitch among princes of ground equipment towing. It was in fact, a ton of solid metal designed in every way to hurt you if you were not careful. That said, the trick is to be half cut, and to ride one on a friday afternoon with a gut full of Courage Directors was the dogs doodahs. Pity I cant find a piccy.

Donkeys nasty things to start, especially in the cold, if you weren't careful your thumb could get quite bruised, dislocated, broken or mangled.

After years of starting "r" type loading trolleys the donkey held no fear for the average plumber.

the unimog we had at Odious was never that modern lol, we also had to wear a kidney belt if we drove it over a certain distance, to try and absorb some of the vibrations... oh them were the days, was replaced by fastrac after that

Drove one of these puppies from Wittering up to Leeming for a det one year with a 175 ltr lox trolley on the back*. That was a frustrating journey up the A1 at urban road speeds.

*This was in the days before the fitment of concrete blocks in to the back of the mog following the tragic incident at Wittering.

Luckily the resident IT biff can find a piccy. For the unaware this is a donkey. Although it looks small it could if tethered properly pull the moon nearer the earth with a few putt/putts of it's mighty motor.

That's really cool. Reminds me of the old Navy 'Manglers' that we had down here at a secret Cornish techie hide-away until recent years. Now replaced by remote controlled Douglas 'RAM' handlers which are crazy!
