medical board after 18 months

hi there goaters

ninjarabbi i gave that number a go the other day after i got referred properly atlast... they are pretty helpful there to be honest and was told they don;t mind people ringing them to find out whats going on rather than doing it through the medical centre, the disappointing thing about the med board process is that the waiting time is so long they are currently booked up all the way to mid april.... which sucks for me seen as my last working day is the end of april so i think that the conclusion will now either be a routine discharge or an upgrade and offer to extend..

is it likely that they would upgrade me and exempt me from the RAFFT? I do know of a few people in my trade who are a4g2z1 and permanently exempt the RAFFT and they have been promoted and been able to serve with out restriction...

G2 is just a marker, Think of it as a flag in your records which draws attention to them. It just means that there is something in your records of something that happened in the past, eg, you had an op to fix something etc.

hi Mr. Masher

I am currently a4g3z1, and thinking that i will go to a4g2z1 after the med review as atleast then i have the option of signing on, its the RAFFT part that is the problem as i am incapable of running this present moment in time due to me foot not being right still... However on the more positive side i have no problems at all day to day as far as walking and working goes and can do all aspects of my current trade, i'm able to participate to a degree in sports and curcuits but obviously again the running element is a problem.

I am aware that a4g2z1 is now the highest i am going to get as far as MES goes due the ops and what not i have had but that is still fully fit like you say with just a flag, hopefully i will just get that ant and be exempt the RAFFT too. Only time will tell

Bike test?

its a possibility... i have done the bike test in the past and its actually harder that the RAFFT... the old boys don;t have ot that easy really lol

Thats your option if you want to be signed on. Being unable to do your fitness test means that you are undeployable, however you can still do CCS.
The rocks need to know your MES and any limitations and they will enable to you to do whatever bits of CCS you can. (I am unfit running at the minute and have just completed the whole CCS package.)
Your MES of a4g2z1 seems a bit hopeful to me if you cant do your fitness test.

Not true. There is a bloke who works with me who is A4G2Z1 permenently unfit RAFFT. He has been promoted, signed on and deployed to both Iraq and Afganistan, with this med cat. The med grade chit said on it something like RTD with above restriction, and the only restriction on the med chit is that one

I don't know his particular med background, but I was on the understanding that that if you are permanently downgraded the Z wouldn't be Z1. If he cant do his fitness test, he cant run and therefore cannot carry out the full range of service duties which is what the Z is an indicator of.
Perhaps I have it mixed up?

I am currently A4 G3 Z4. This is because I am still not fixed and undergoing treatment. If I am ever fixed and able to run I will hopefully end up as A4 G2 Z1, thus removing my downgrade.

I'm interested to know about deployments though and what med cats can go. My feet are itching like fcuk!!

I'm not too sure of the full facts, (stop he's just walked in the office) he had knee surgery about 3 years ago, and is ok to run in a straight line, but the doc does not want him turning at speed during the FT, and putting undue strain on repaired knees. He is not downgraded cos A4G2Z1 is not downgraded, even if its permanent. The only restriction on his med chit is unfit RAFFT. I've seen it. So maybe if you can run, but not turn, then there is hope

hi there

being downgraded doesn't automatically mean that you can't do things..

for example i am currently a4g3z1 t but i am able to deploy but am restricted to non op zones.

the z factor on has a bearing on where you can go z5 means you can't go anywhere and z1 is no climatic restrictions.

not too sure what the other bits mean though but i do know of a few people who are a4g2z1 and that is fully fit with a marker but its not considered as being downgraded.
