Thanks for all the comments. My main gripe with this is that the Air Farce knew about it when I joined. I have never hidden it from them. Only a few years ago they issued Med Tags stating I had an allergy. So why only now after serving nearly 7 years have they decided to downgrade me. This is my first downgrading and so very annoying to jump from A4G1Z1 TO A4G3Z4 in one fell swoop!I appreciate they have my wellbeing to consider but it is their ignorance in the first place that has left me in this situation.

Ok....looking at it like that take the RAF (MOD) to an employment tribunal....Nothing in your circumstances has changed just them moving the goal posts (or finding them by the looks of things!). You could argue that if it was known from the start they have shown lack of care/duty to you OR you could argue if they said this at the start of your career you would'nt have joined and wasted years of your life.............either way i think you have a case.......best get it checked out first though !!

Crack on.................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

P.S. still stand by my earlier comment.......

Sorry to break the bad news but a lass i was in the RN with found out that she had a nut allergy and she was instantly medically discharged!!!!!!!

I could handle a med discharge because at least I would get the benefits.

Sounds like the "System" that the Med trade uses is in max chat and flowing against you.

Unfortunately, nobody in the RAF Medworld likes to poke their heads around "what the book" says and look at the whole scenario.

If the book says yer out then yer out.

Stange though, If you were shot through the chest or shrapneled in the 'stan, you would be just doing your job and not putting anyone else in danger. If you ate a nut and got a bit ill, then you would be sent home because of all the aggro you had caused and therefore, would deserve the full fury of a system that needs to be dragged out of the days where trepanning was a must.

I have been on the recieving end of the system and it really does suck the fat one.

When I left the RAF, sorry was kicked out of the RAF, I suddenly found myself working in places that their system had banned me from working and in countries where "It was too dangerous for me to go". Working for, believe it or not, THE ROYAL AIR FARCE.

I will never forget the look on the face of an RAF Medic (who did my med board prep stuff )walked into the crewroom in a hot sandy place. "WHAT are YOU doing HERE" they proclaimed.

"Earning more than you" I replied.

I too am permanetly downgraded for a condition i disclosed on my entry medical. I have had no problems other than a week in hospital last year. Sufficient medical is available in all overseas locations and i am fit and healthy and pass the RAFFT. I am not being signed on either but to be honest if they can get rid of someone who is in a trade of 18 people that very soon due to a change in legislation they will need then thats there loss.

I know this doesn't help the poor guy who has the nut allergy but i know of someone who went to a hot sunny place! who had a nut allergy and had special meals made for them!!!!
