Do stackers ever release anything?

(Sits back and sniggers at his childish alcohol fueled jibe about stereotypical Stackers....)

A bite!

A bite!

Ok Norman i'll take the bait!

All the Navy ashore Units are now on MJDI R5 and the Land environment are moving forward at a rapid rate - with several UIN's a day transferring from old legacy systems (UNICOM & Global).

It is quite a bit different from the current version used within the Air Environment but the basic processes are the same - it just has a lot more functunality. The biggest issue I have is the language but then I still go on leave and not 'Authorised Absence' on JPA - I guess it will take a while to learn the lingo! As with the current system it has some functions that some Units will never use but other new gucci stuff which should make life a bit easier e.g. integrated Stocktaking planning tool.

As ever its a change programme no doubt we'll mumble and grumble a bit and then embrace it and wonder how we ever managed on the old system! :PDT_Xtremez_28:

Will it have electronic 'T-Cards' so that the Army can use it?

I was told on my UAA course that is has the ability to account for bulk fuels but the instructor couldn't elaborate further.

Does this mean the end of BFIS & GFMS? I hope so....

I think that's right mate. The only think it wont be accounting for IIRC is bloods.

I think it looked pretty good IMO all except the U/S acounting for C stores! FFS!! Now all INV holders are going to turn into freaks like that WO army chopper in Afghan who used to get a hard on about every bloody C store he saw I/V PW for!

I thought the Army were told to 'get in line' with this system and C stores accounting was well and truly out the window?

C Class Inventory Control

C Class Inventory Control

It is true that Included in the MJDI 'toolkit' is the ability to account for C class stores on an AinU (Inventory in old speak) however THIS IS NOT MANDATORY the AinU can be set up as consuming (as now) or Non consuming if you want to account for c stores on an AinU - the choice is the Units.

The loss of BR as a conditioning Class may be seen as an issue but it means we will no longer need to account for scrap on F1640's but use MJDI and if it is recorded it as E0 it will be far easier to GEO (sorry Issue to external source) it to the Regional Marketing Contractor- job done! (it will also mean that OC Supply can Snap check the scrap yard! LOL)

As I said earlier it is a change in business practises but I think it will be really good as it will replace the non SCC package and allow us to use DISCOVERER far more widely than ever before. It also allows us to manage our hazardous classes far better and alert us to dangerous mixes of F&L/explosive components!

A few other things are

Loans are all changed and a lot better to use

Every item has a positive location none of this its here somewhere with a choice of a possible five locations.

it has a full local purchase package.

It has a jobs package that makes placing long lists of recurring demands easy and repeatable.

no ghost inventories (AinU's) no matcon of BR so things must be done right no fiddles.

sadly it cant restore hair so Robbie and I are still having to look for that final fix !!

MJDI wont account for Blood and Plasma It can do fuel by quantity and location but no 222 like calculations

MJDI wont do fresh food or instant sun shine

Have you guys found the MJDI User Home Page on the Def Intranet? The User Guide User Change Guide for Rel 4 is there with Rel 5 docs coming soon. Rel 1 docs are there as well.

Yes; Rel 5 will be different from Rel 1 and there will be changes to the way the RAF stacker fraternity does its business but the RN & the Army are also seeing big changes and the end result will be common processes across the whole Loggie community in the MoD.

Norman, release 5? Don't care anymore, all I worry about is parking woo hoo!!!

Off Topic ...and here was me making sure I didn't walk on the grass when I was sauntering down the road in front of you the other day. ;)

It does have the ability to account for Bulk fuel. It will only be as good as the information you put in, i.e you will still have to do the calculations before entering it onto MJDI. I believe we are still waiting for the Sup Pol people to say how it is to be used.

The only things it does not account for are as some have already said:

Portable Sunshine (obvious reason)
Blood & Plasma don't know he reason, i suspect it's the medics getting in a tizzy
Fresh Rations no idea!

Good. So hopefully we can go back to manual F222 or MOD777? or whatever they're called these days & just post them onto MJDI like we used to in the good old USAS days.

Then I can delete my DECS/BFIS shortcut!
