More SJAR Questions

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Ha Ha, that will be why i've had two in 21 years then!

Which gives you (and all the others in your position) a cast iron argument against anything negative written in your annual. Personally, I would like to see ROs who do not complete MPARs or are late writing appraisals have that fact reflected in their own appraisals.

But then I would also like to do away with prom recs as they exist at present and replace them with one simple question: "Is the subject recommended for promotion to the next rank?". Yes/No.

RO's really need more training on the fact MPARs are mandatory. I asked for mine this year and was told I wasn't getting one because I hadn't been in post long enough.

As for the Exceptional being read by the board, the JSP says C grades with Exceptional should be read, I can't find anything that says B grades need to be.

As part of the new SJAR Workshops, all who attend are told that MPARs are mandatory and that they could leave themselves open to a Service Complaint if they do not complete them.

As I'm sure you are aware TBJ, sanctions can be imposed against failing ROs via their OJAR/SJAR. The problem is finding a RO strong enough to do it.

IMHO it's better to get a good written Exceptional than a good written High!

ONLY IF THEY WERE WORTH ONE!

shame he may have come off if you had given him an exceptional again

DIDNT DESERVE ONE AS HE WAS OVER ASSESSED BY A CRAP SNCO.

So you dropped someone from spec to high and the board gave him number 1! I hope you apologised to the lad for underestimating him and poorly assessing him?

HE GOT WHAT HE WAS WORTH, AGREED BY THE WO ABOVE ME, HE TURNED UP FOR WORK, WHICH HE WAS BLOODY GOOD AT, BUT HAD LITTLE OTHER INPUT.

If he was good enough to make number 1 I would have thought he was exceptional!

THAT IS THE BOARDS DECISION TO MAKE, ONCE AGAIN JUST GOOD WRITTEN ASSESSMENT NOT OVERINFLATED NUMBER/GRADES

Just shows how much ambiguity the system has in it.

IT IS A CRAP SYSTEM BUT THE ONLY ONE WE HAVE.You dont really get the point do you? or are you fishing?

I think the SJAR system is actually very good. The implementation by the RAF has however been very poor. Now that I understand how to use it more I feel confident in using it to the benefit of my career. I would encourage anyone to complete an SJAR course, which should in my opinion be part of basic training and latterly JMLC and IMLC for SJAR writing.
