Haven't heard a thing, but as I am in a multi-uniformed workplace on a certain sunny island, I am not surprised that I haven't heard a thing. Give us more gen and then we can bitch and moan with equal venom! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

I don't know what you're on about either! Are these the new(ish) regs under JPA or something completely different? Enlighten us WTJPA!

Sorry for posting here as i'm not a shiney but i take it you are refering to the loss of the 28days grace on abaited food charges.

they are getting rid off abated food charge and it will now be daily food charge..and there will be no more 30 days free for dets ... not reeally so bad I feel? It was bound to happn sooner or later

We've already covered this here.

Nothing there when you click on the link TBJ.

But as to the main topic of the thread. Why should we be surprised as most of the other perks have already been taken off us as it is. I suppose that means that we married/living out people will also be expected to pay accom while on det even though we are still paying for our SFA and/or mortgage.

Yet another erosion of the way of life that the Forces used to be and moving towards a job. Obviously morale and service ethos counts for Eff all when it comes down to the bean-counters.

Singlies Weekend Saver

Singlies Weekend Saver

One good point for the singly livers in will be getting their Sunday Lunch refunded, as the 48 hour Stand Down Rule becomes 24 Hours. Just a quick throught though who's going to be doing all the standdown actions on JPA, I guess we'll just trust the individual otherwise a massive job for HR

I suspect it will be left to the individual to claim without any input from Unit HR. After all, as PAYD rolls out across the three Services it will become less and less of an issue.

delays

delays

I believe the cut from 48 to 24hr to be able to claim does not come in till april next year. Why the delay?
The change from free food for livers out (not just married guys) when on a course is from 1st June / july?
I Think we should be entitled to claim subsistance when away though now so all levels out in the end?
If anyone sees the AFPRB dont forget to mention this to them! may be worth a bit more on top of LSA

Where did you get that little gem from? If you're on a course at, e.g., Tossford then you will pay the food charge and all you will be able to claim is incidentals (newspapers, phone calls, laundry). I reckon this has come about because singlies complained that they had to pay food charges while the married guys didn't. The idea would have been to get free food for all people on courses, single or married. If that is the case, then it backfired royally.

I was talkin to an admin snec about this the other day and he reckoned that officers were still entitled to free food for the 30 days, and that they could also still get duty meals when at other units.

dunno if thats true, but if it is then it's a load of bollox, talk about one rule for us eh!

I'll check it out on Monday, but I think the Snec is talking horlicks. Many of the changes to allowances/charges over the past 10 years have harmonised the differences between officers and airmen (disturbance allowance being a prime example).

Whats the difference?

(dont get me started on disturbance (£1600+ to mive into private a few weeks ago £1100 ish now....wheres the £500 gone?)

Back on topic.

1. If I go on a (civvie) course in LONDON, i have to buy my own meals and claim an allowance back.

2. If I go to a unit for a course/ detachment and its pay as you dine I have to buy my own food.
Same deal, except they are not having to pay for my accom.

3. If I go to a unit for a course/ detachment and they have traditional messing then I all of a sudden have to pay a daily food charge including weekends.

If I find myself in the last 2 situations I will want a reciept for my meal charges and I WILL claim it back...!!

I'm P!ssed off with all these changes to our terms and conditions being smuggled in the back door with little notice, explanation.
