Pay Award 2016 Announced

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Looks like its 1% across the board (as we already knew).

No increase in SFA in preperation for transition to CAAS.

Small increase on some SLA and in food charge

Loads more details in the DIN

So we all in the same boat then. Solidarity.

I read the DIN and I'm still confused.

They've muddied it with the NEM figures so it looks like a Google tax return lots of numbers but not much sense. Do you transpose amount across or level?

As OR7 level 9 do I move to new OR 7 level 9 or do I drop to OR 7 level 7 which is nearer the amount? I think I'll just wait and see.

The Forces TV announcement on FB about this issue has stirred up nothing but shear hatred......

I think its a double pay rise, Pay Rise to Pay2000 1st April, then onto the NEM Scales.

I'm guessing on the nearest amount, dropping increment level. At least that is my understanding!

My understanding is that you will retain your level of pay (plus your 1%) and mark time until promotion/early termination. It's known as a specialist rate of pay or something like that...

Did anyone else notice the pay rise increase for the officer world? On average between 4-17%...!

I'd love you to show me where I'm getting that... 1% in April and due to the NEM will see me go up an increment by £70, so £5 pcm next March. I'm losing out on what I would have got at every increment the same as most except the final increment if I stay in that long, which given I'm pensionable soon, I doubt.

Promotion from Sqn Ldr to Wg Cdr 17% pay increase, I have to put up with a 2% increase on promotion, all in it together my arse.

Pay Award 2016 Announced

Well I hate to disagree but I think it depends on how you look at it. They are still getting less than they were expecting to and are worse off as a result of NEM. The important information is on the comparison schematic pg 78-79. Yes a Sqn Ldr promoted to Wg Cdr will receive a pay rise but they will then stagnate and fall behind what they would've received under pay 2000. If they had dropped all promotion increases to 2% then the pay scales would have dropped considerably and everyone of senior commissioned rank would've had to have taken a severe (£000's) pay cut. Cue senior officers leaving in droves. Those senior officers already on pay increments higher than NEM levels will have to mark time.

My point being that there is nobody who is better off as a result of NEM. That is a fact. I'm worse off, my boss is worse off, his boss etc. This mythical 'pay rise increase of between 4-17%' does not reflect reality. The reality is that compared to pay 2000 the NEM is cutting everyone's career earnings.

Statistics will tell you what you want to see depending on your side of the fence. I'm pretty sure that the main statistic we are all interested in is the monthly figure paid into our bank. This for EVERYONE is less than under pay 2000.

We are all going to be worse off, however some more than others...

You can't deny the facts presented to you though.... I echo the Orwellian sentiment previously mooted

Me? I don't really care for the political swayings of what you said, "we're all worse off". My heart bleeds for your huge pay jump when you get promoted. Perhaps you'll donate some to the proles?

The fact of the matter is this: we all have to take a bite of the sh!t sandwich, however the non commissioned have to take a bigger bite and the other side just nibble the crust.

Final point: who do the lads go to with their gripes/disillusionment? That's right, their CoC because that's the way it's done. How do I try and sell to my subordinates that it's worth working towards their 3rd? The pay rise is pathetic and the increase in workload is huge! I'm afraid to say that this (air)ship is rotting from the bottom up.

Explain to me how your pay is affected by NEM more than me then... Is the disparity between pay 2000 and NEM greater for you than me? I doubt it. Again you will see what you want to see.
