Posted to the Wing!!!

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Pants!

There's a med centre and a dental centre, on base, that TSW can't use - we have to go to Cosford for that!

The gym is pish too. Quite sad seeing a once-busy RAF unit neglected now. The sooner TSW move out, the better! Viva Scampton!

If I was in your shoes, or boots as its soon going to be I'd try damn hard to get out of it, or you'll end up like some of the posters here who think its an elete organisation, rather than a bunch of glorified petrol pump attendants. if you want to be involved with fuel get to F&L on your camp, or you will be setting up tents at Stafford town show.

And welcome to the Goat...perhaps your first post would have been better here....

How predictable, I knew we'd get one on here eventually.

Some no mark, clip clop shoes, chip hat, tornado tie pin and stable belt wearing SCAF mong no doubt who believes that the ultimate way in which you can spend your life in the military is separating the batch prints from the fast printer on a Monday morning.

Having served on both unit F&L and TSW I can tell you for definite one is a job that could be (and has been) quite easily contracted out for civvies to do and the other is a genuine military task, something for those who are proud to serve and wish to in a manner which is over and above that of a glorified jaffa.

Yes, TSW is no 'elate' organisation but it is one that ultimately anyone who is joining the RAF as a stacker (still a military organisation last time I checked) should be happy to serve in. If you want to count blankets but stay nice and safe in the UK go and work for Serco.

Well said Helpful Stacker, I refer back to my previous thread. :PDT_Xtremez_28:

Why do you have to use Cosford for medical stuff. Thought all that was Joint?

Are you seriously trying to say that the vast majority of the trade group can't count themselves as belonging to a military service because they are in the UK wearing blue uniform and counitng nuts and bolts. What about the normal stackers who are out in Iraq dodging mortar shells, do they count? My Tornado cuff links go nicely with my stable belt thanks, and please dont compare any us with SERCO, they took my job away in 97 and frankly my dogs' smarter.

Sqn stores are a bloody long way from mortar shells my fine stable belt wearing friend. Unless you are really unlucky, counting nuts and bolts is pretty safe compared to operating a fuel site with incoming.

Don,t knock the Wing without trying it first.

Well said Gillo,I did 4 and half years at Stafford and in my opinion was the best job ive done in supply, its different not elitist. I agree most suppliers do go to some dangerous OOA's but how many have the responsibility for a team of guys and girls not to mention aircrew and aircraft,TSW gives you that chance to prove your leadership skills in a different enviorment to the day to day running of a sqn store for example.
I know The Wing isnt everyones cup of tea and I can apprieciate that but why slag it off unless you have been there.

Keep the Faith

Havent been on for a few days and imagine my horror as i read 441 staines comments about our glorious wing mongs! I take it Mr Seamen (it was just asking for that) you have never been on the wing and only ever been in your greens when you do your annual GDT. I have done 2 tours on the wing and 4 different postings in main supply. I can say i enjoyed the wing the most and its more than just being a petrol pump attendant, unlike your job where all you think about is how to feck over your other scaf mongs and see who can wear to most crazy tie badge, the wing actually makes people think on their feet and makes NCOs take charge and make proper decisions.

So really i think what im trying to say is why dont you either come out your comfort zone and try doing this **** easy job or have a nice big cup of shut the feck up!

Let's keep the thread on topic please folks.

Excuse me but this thread is still on topic. The initial post was asking for any advice on being posted to TSW.

My last few posts have clearly demonstrated the special relationship that can exist between 2 male members of a formed unit. This bond is a beautiful thing, born out of the ardous and hostile environments that TSW operate in and should be cherised.
A valuable piece of advice for any fresh faced, young, fit, tanned, muscular Supplier joining the Wing.

Anyway, you are only gay if you take it or push back! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

You haven't got one of those new fangled shiney stable belts have you stacker4ever?

You've changed....

D

dantura - NEWSFLASH! Even worse than buying a stable belt, he's spending his Easter Bank Holiday weekend with the ATC at Swynners!

He has changed! Gunning for his 3 banana if you ask me.

The phrase 'Bolting the stable door after the horse has gone' springs to mind. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Norman i dont know what your on about i just like to help mould the future of our very fine Air Force Personnel (and maybe flog them a stable belt).

If you feel that you would like to help in this worthy cause i am sure i can get you onboard.

This is also a great oppertunity for the new arrivals on the wing to display some leadership skills to younger personnel who wont tell em to feck off.
