Thanks for all the replies guys, I've now got a much better idea of where I'm at than I was a few days ago and what my hard-earned will buy as and when I get round to parting with the readies. I tend to dither a bit over purchaces like this and I knew there would be allegencies and preferences towards either Intel or AMD chips, and NVidia and ATI graphics cards but I'm not exactly sure which way to go yet.

Nothing seems to promote rabid fanboyism like these two splits! If the real geeks ever made it out into the real world for an evening I reckon you'd have Intel v AMD fights in the pub car parks after a few pints.

The trick is to know when you're favourites are no longer top of the hill, get over it, and buy whats best.

At heart, I'm AMD and nVidia, but right now I'd buy Intel and ATi.

Meh, its always been the same. MY computers better than YOUR computer (::P:) arguments have been raging since the things first appeared.

Spectrum Vs Commodore 64

Atari ST Vs Amiga

Much of that was down the buyers of each maching trying to convince themselves that they'd made the right choice :PDT_Xtremez_15:

I had the 2 on the left hand side. In my heart I knew the Commodes were better, but the C64 was too expensive, and then many years on, I got the ST because that was what the school used.

But I'm not bitter.::/:
