NFI here I'm afraid, especially if it means more marching, working weekends and giving the public a jolly good flypast, much the same as I am for Armed Forces day each year.

Paint every aircraft in the RAF a different colour scheme! jesus at £50K a pop you will bankrupt the country!

Centenary medal - nice idea, won't happen (budget excuses).

don't think a 100-miler is gonna go down well with a significant majority, running or cycling (unless it's a pub crawl...)

Flypasts? More chance of getting the old airframes than the new ones, all the working aircraft we have left are deployed...

Massive airshows? Yeah, great idea, let's celebrate 100 years of the RAF by forcing LOADS of service personnel into an extra working day, on some giant airfield, probably in the rain (like the poor sods in Waddo had to do every year - and will still be getting roped into if it moves to Scampton).

How about issuing every serving member of the RAF with a beer, a bunch of flowers for their missus, and a day off?
 
It's going to end up with endless parades because, as with Armed Forces Day, it's eff all to do with the Armed Forces. It's for public opinion and U tube.

Get used to it now.
 
Here's a thought; how about holding whatever hair-brained scheme the officer corps comes with on a week day? Not fecking people around on a weekend like they do for this armed forces day guff.

My sentiments exactly - I often get shouted down for not supporting Armed Forces Day because my view is that getting the Forces to march past crowds of cheering public so they can show their support is akin to holding a birthday party and then giving presents to the guests.
 
Not wishing to sound rude, but who designed the "RAF 100" titling on this website? Looks like it's been lifted from a 1970s Jimi Hendrix album cover......

Time for a thread resurrection?

So, RAF100 is starting to rear it's ugly head again (not surprising as we get closer to the main events). Last month we were told 'no leave ban planned', however recent rumour is that the Ivory Tower occupants are starting to flap, and that there'll be a leave ban in place for the big events.

Nice to see they changed the logo from that ridiculous 'Studio59' style jobbie though!!

Main event is in July - thousands of miserable souls being forced to march through London (that's probaby a bit harsh, I'm sure some of them will be volunteers...). I had a brief on the marching / training schedule a few weeks back, sounds like it's gonna be loads of fun....
