Failing all the above you could borrow a rotavator and dig the lot up and swear black is white you went green and it was your Veg Patch - no one says a garden has to be all grass

Unfortunately in Quarters yes it does. Your only expected to cut the grass and if you do anything to improve your life in their property then you have to pay double to turn it back to sh1t.

I hate Defence Estates so much it hurts at times.

I had a mole attack our garden over the winter, and because of the sh**e weather, the grass did not return, even tho i got rid of the mole hills, and even got a pest control guy, from MHS, to kill the mole. I rang DHE and asked if i could have my lawn sorted and they basically told me to shove it and that is my responsibility to make my lawn look nice again. You should see it, its like no mans land. How can I stop moles from coming into my garden when my quarter backs onto a rec? I can't help it if moles come in. They'd do anything to get a few quid. I wouldn't mind if my lawn was like a pool table when i moved in, but it looked like someone had mowed it at 4 ft high in the rain, the patio was buried under the grass and top soil. They can shove it if they think im payin a bean!

Rant over, maybe

Dont know if this is any help, but on my last march out the burd said my gardens a mess. I just told her that I had laid some weed killer and it would take 2 weeks to act. She was happy with that and signed off my march out chitty! Bingo!

Well if they want to bill you for a new lawn, how about suggesting to them that you will take the old lawn with you!? Afterall, you have paid for it! It might make them realise that they are being pathetic?

I've heard of people doing this with carpets, but never a lawn. I think thats a great idea!

Sorry: Could not resist.

They have big wallets these Moles I reckon.

I know, its just the way I read it:PDT_Xtremez_09:

Fortunately they didn't bill me for my garden. Moved to Marham now where I was marched in by a DHE guy called Charlie, top bloke, I already know my marchout from Marham will be far easier.

Can
I suspect I will be in the same boat when we move as our lawn was incredibly uneven, so when we installed our shed we had to dig a load up to level it out so the back of the shed sits 6 or 7" lower than the grass level. Thats going to be a big hole to fill when we leave!

I knocked down my coal bunker the other week, I have plenty of rubble if you need to fill a hole!

Find a neighbour with a lawn worse than yours, and photograph it. Then tell them that was it when you moved in.:PDT_Xtremez_14:
Want a picture of my back garden? It's so uneven it make Dartmoor look like a snooker table. I contacted the D fecking E about it who said they'd send someone out to assess it. That was last August and we havent seen anyone yet! When it suits eh?

But they didn't say "which" August...............did they? :PDT_Xtremez_30:

When I marched out at Lossie, DHE told me they were billing me as the lawn was not up to standard. When I pointed out that most of the "lawn" was moss and wanted to know what contractor would relay moss onto the lawn they mysteriously changed their minds!!!!

heard of one case where the March Out Officer actually brushed the snow away to measure the length of the grass and then informed the unfortunate person Marching Out that they would be billed for grass cutting.

A guy i worked with Marched Out at very short notice after accepting an emergency posting to Cyprus. March Out Officer couldnt find anything actually wrong with his quarter so informed him he would receive a bill for 'general dust'.

I feel his reply wouldnt add much to this thread

How do you know this? Did you put down every single little thing? Hope so.

I recently left Marham (also my first MQ) where I was told at the pre-march-out inspection that I would be billed for cutting the grass unless I did something about it. Despite it being the middle of winter we managed to find a day when it wasn't too bad to get out and cut the fcukin grass. Come march-out we were billed because the grass had died. As I said on similar thread, If I'd known then what I know now I would have fought back. ::/:

We really need to threaten these f***ers with court action for unreasonable charges. We must be prepared to see it through if you feel you have been wronged.

DHE (as it was) marched me out of my first quarter, billed me around £300 for various things. Signed the paperwork in the local office where they informed me that they'll be in touch, then it moved to regional offices....

How long is it before they write off a bill? Must have been about 6 years ago and no one has been in touch...
