So the Mackem messiah has left after 100 games what next for Sunderland?? As one disgruntled now former Kean fan said this afternoon "he spent £80 Million and bought us what exactly". Strange how managers go from all knowing saviour to bumbling idiot in fans eyes. I look forward to Sunderland fans slagging him off as "never the right bloke for us" , "We knew all along he couldn't cut it in the big time"etc. etc

Shearer's been waiting on the right job to come along!

I think having a Fatwa from the whole of the Geordie nation would prevent the mighty Shearer from ever going south of the river!

Being a full blooded geordie myself i think you could be right there... but someone had to say it. As long Keano doesn't end up North of the river either.

Shearer's never gonna let that happen, he will be waiting at the bike shed!!!!!

Did you get to the testimonial for the man himself?

Keano walks away

Keano walks away

Just joined the E-goat community yesterday. As a life-long SAFC supporter and season ticket holder, I'm pretty shocked to hear that Roy Keane has walked away from the SOL. True, he has bought badly and his team selections have been questionable to say the least. However SAFC are just 5 points off 9th place. Strong rumour is that he is going straight to Celtic and SAFC are getting Strachan in exchange.

As for the Shearer, he would'nt dare set foot in the Stadium of Light!

Phil Brown, fat Sam and Curbishley are the other favourites with the bookies - what do you think? Any SAFC fans out there?

I know of at least one who is regular on here. :PDT_Xtremez_30:
And no it's not me.

That will be me them Tb! I had a feeling this might happen before Christmas but I am surprised at it happening this quick. Sorry to disappoint you Bar-Codes but you will not find me slagging Roy Keane off. I have been a Sunderland supporter since 1963, 45 years man and boy, which is probably longer than most of you Goaters have been alive. In that time I have seen more managers come and go than I can remember and most of them are instantly forgettable, Lawrie McMenemy and Terry Butcher being 2 of them. There was also some good ones, Denis Smith, Peter Reid (for his 1st 4 years), Mick McCarthy (look what he is doing at Wolves now – if he had been given the money backing that Keano had we would be a top 8 club now) and of course the immortal Bob Stokoe.

Roy Keane arrived when we were about to do a Leeds and Forest – disappear into League One obscurity. He turned us round and to the day has never been given the credit he deserved for turning us into a Championship winning side in one year. Last year, despite having a lot of players that were not really Premiership class, he kept us up. Unfortunately, I believe his drive for perfection began to alienate him form the players and I think he “lost” the dressing room after the Newcastle victory, Ooh that sounded good let me say it again – after the Newcastle victory. However, he has also done a lot of other good things unseen at the club. Our Reserves are top of the Premier League North and the Under 18’s are one point off the top with games in hand.

So thank you Roy for what you have done and whoever will replace you (Please God – not Kevin Keegan) will see what a good team we actually have. And then you Bar Codes should be afraid – be very afraid!

I agree. I would'nt have a word said against Keano. He's done a great job at SAFC and in NQ's words he has dragged us up when we were literally on our knees. We've had some shocking managers (Howard Wilkinson springs to mind) and some very good ones (Dennis Smith and Mick M). Question is, where do we go from here? Surely big Sam is'nt the man for the job but he is favourite at the moment and I can't see Phil Brown leaving Hull although he is a S/land lad.

As manager Keane has to take ultimate responsibility for our current predicament but certain players surely must have to take a good look at themselves, Whitehead, Nosworthy to name just two.

I think much of the problem lies with the fact that since things came to a head after the Northampton Carling Cup game, Keane isolated himself from the team and concentrated on cultivating his own 'aloof complex personality'. It is well documented that as a result of his abuse hurling in the dressing room that evening, he 'ultimately 'lost the dressing'. Strachan is on his way, mark my words, with Keane slotting in at Celtic.

Having said that and bearing in mind that we have'nt been playing well, we still took 3 points off both the Mags and Boro.

As a follower of the mighty Accrington Stanley what happens in the outer reaches of the football universe doesn't normally attract my attention. However I thought Niall Quinn was very gracious and praised Keans efforts in his press conference. Kean got you lot promoted and deserves congratulations for that. From Sunderland supporters I have spoken to he took over a huge squad most of which were happy to pick up the pay packet even though some had little, if any, chance of getting a first team game. When he trimmed that lot down things looked okay be he seems to have fallen into the same trap. Sunderland have fielded more players this season so far than any other Premier league club. New manager hhmmmm whose out of job at the moment and who would want it. Strachan why would he move? Lets face it at Celtic the worst he can do is finish second and qualify for europe.

you keep your hands off Mr Phil Browne thankyou very muchly

sorry, just had to post this one...
