At the risk of re-igniting an argument, but would the backs have been as dynamic today with Farrell stood at 12?

Anybody who has sat in the Madejski through the season as I have, will be feeling the same pride at the performance of "The 35 year old band aid centre, who lacks pace". Granted he had a poor start, but 99% of that was the emotion of being recalled and at captain, in what was arguably the toughest game of the tournament.

France were effectively shut out today as much by the coaching skill and vision for how he wants the game played of Brian Ashton, as much as the feats of the players.

There will be worried men sat in not only the Farrell, but dare I say it, the Wilkinson houses tonight.

Make no mistake though, this is just a very promising start to a long fight back which I still fear will be only be complete after the World Cup. I can though, hope and pray I am wrong.

I think you'll find that Chris White is probably one of the best respected ref's you'll ever come across.

That may well be but he could still learn a thing or two by watching the ref (Kaplan) in the Italy v Ireland match.....at least he had the balls to play extra time even when you could hear the TMO saying it was time.......

Crack on...........:PDT_Xtremez_09:

Good thing to see he is on the line of the game today...to see how it should be done !!!

Great last day in the championship ! 3 good matches and a fair result in the end, France deserved the 6 nations even with a slip up HQ. Oh and many thanks to the jocks for stealing the wooden spoon from our grasps ::P:

Wasn't unexpected. England were sh*te. The biggest Welsh win against them in 19 years? I hope Corry doesn't wear the England shirt ever again as really he does nothing. Alain Roland was c**p as well.

Sorry Ireland, but you blew it! France had to score 31 points and you had the opportunity to kick the ball out to end the game. They scored 26.:PDT_Xtremez_31:

As i've already said on here I think that White was wrong in what he did as he'd told Hook there was time for the lineout, but there's a big difference in what happened when White blew up (after the ball was kicked out of play) and Kaplan playing the extra time today. Kaplan played extra time as he was awarding penalties and he has to let the penalty be taken, if the ball had been kicked into to touch at any point he'd have blew up.

Well done to the Welsh today, they were the better side. I'm not going to hear the end of that result at least until 4th August when we get a chance for revenge.

It was a scrappy but exciting game, average wales beat poor england, but our forwards bossed the breakdown, which was a pleasure to watch ::P:

Us Welsh wont be boasting much we never do when we beat the old enemy :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Just for my 4 penn'orth.

Thank you to England for helping Wales avoid the wooden spoon.

I wish I'd backed up my prediction on Italy finishing 4th with a trip down to Ladbroke's. Won't get nearly such good odds next year!

Condolences to Ireland, for missing out on the Championship by 2 points.

RTW, you won't hear any more from me on the subject. England will always be the one game we must win, but it takes 5 matches to win the 6 Nations, so I will be celebrating quietly tonight.

Wales is not a good place to be for an Englishman tonight...

CHRIST!! you'd think they'd just won the world cup itself!!!!! strange that none of them had actually watched the match... they all have to ask you the score...

to be honest i thought 18 each at half time was a little unrepresentitive of how the first half had gone, it could have been a lot worse... but hey, England had played themselves back into that position..

no favours whatsoever from the inept Ref as usual, i doubt he'll look back on his performance with any satisfaction tonight... was he blind to red shirts flying into the rucks from the sides? red shirts permanently offside? Hywel wins the day eh guys?

strange how Joe Worsley had to go off injured early on (very much like happened to Mike Teague a few years back)...coincidence?????

Roll on the World Cup.....................

Don't get bitter. Just accept that you were hammered by a far superiour side.

How much unpunished infringement? ffs the ref may have been wearing a Welsh shirt...

In years gone by England have been very successfully with that tactic especially Neil Back and Martin Johnson, one of the unwritten English rules is "if you are getting away with it keep on doing it":PDT_Xtremez_42:

Boot is on the other foot now !

The boot tended to be around the wrong side of the ruck kicking the ball whilst it was still in!!

How dare you point the rumour of ill play at 2 of the games most upstanding upholders of rugbys rules...Their ears will surely be burning because of this comment as they help sick children whilst in church this morning...shame on you..:PDT_Xtremez_17: :PDT_Xtremez_17: :PDT_Xtremez_15:

Well in Mr Backs case the boot might as well be on the hand, I clearly remember his crucial cheating hand scoop during the Heineken cup final!

And as for Mr Johnson, I can guarantee if he was playing yesterday his referee negotiation skills would have gone to good use ! Never has one man been so influential as a captain, As a Welshman it pains me to say so but I have never known a better captain.:PDT_Xtremez_08:

No good blaming the ref, you have to play the game the way he wants, we were beaten by a more passionate side pure and simple. Better, not a chance, the final standings prove the better side, more passionate pure and simple.
Whenever England play the celtic nations they bring the passion with them and until we return that passion they will always have an advantage that will part negate any physical or skill advantage we hold.
Here ends wgafs Sunday sermon.
P.s. S2 feck off fat guts!

I've been suspect of Brian Ashton's selection policy for most of this tournament. England were dire. BA has got to pick the 'form players' not just a selection of his favourites and old war horses. RTW will back me up on this, At Glaws we have the most in form Flanker in the country called Andy Hazell. He leads all tables for tackles, turnovers - a real work horse. Is he selected? No.

James Simpson Daniel, Winger - the best thing since sliced bread, rated by ALL, is he selected - No.

BA needs to sort this out and start building a real team rather than just filling people in here and there.

Looking at the teams though over the 6N, I think the worls cup will be going back down south later this year.

A bit like Stephen Jones last year, or Brian O'Driscoll during the last Lions tour. Like it or not, the first priority on kick-off is to make your first tackle count.

As for the World Cup, this whole 6 Nations tournament has done little to inspire me with confidence that any of the home nations can even get to the quarter-finals.
