Does anyone know how many SAC's got promoted to Cpl on the last board, i think it was arond 30?.

Also does anyone know hwen this years board is likely to sit, got my fingers and toes crossed for this year!:PDT_Xtremez_28:

Have a look here this is the thread about this years promotions.

Also look here which is the link to ACOS manning. The board sits Oct and the pre-board is 6 weeks before that.

They have promoted 52 this year apparently which was the quota.

Had a look on the quota, but was that reached, i thought they stopped at 30, so many romours not enough truth.

Cheers for the link.:PDT_Xtremez_15:

Also, trying to stay away, wanted to do it when i was young, but now a family man, i don't really want the wing, if i had to hey ho, good fun. But i have heard that the last few boards a lot of newly promoted Cpls are being posted to the wing.

With promotion you can't always have your cake and eat it.

PS. Is your name spelt incorrectly?

I was involved in the TMT1 course for stackers and IIRC we had about 6/7 that were either posted to TSW or 85 ELW for the whole board.

As Janto says, you can't have promotion, with more pay and responsibility and a cushy posting. Everyone I know on the Wing has had a great time, even those who were a bit worried about the endless stream of exercises and detatchments.

Off Topic Having recently read the ACOS manning Web site, it might be worth checking that all your assessments are at PMA/ACOS, quite a few Cpl's were missing from last years board. Worth a check!Off Topic

Good luck with the board

I made that very point to some of our Cpl's who were on the 'U' grade list and one just replied "really" and then did nothing about it.

Ho hum Robby, Ho hum!!!

I saw the U grade list for the CPL to SGT board and was quite pleased to see someones name on it due to him being a c0ck of the highest order!!! :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Hi guys,

Im currently midway through the application process to be a 'stacker' (can't go technical cos I'm colour-blind). Can someone explain the promotion process for me cos I'm not too familiar with it?

Thanks

I think by the time that comes around if your just joining up, you will have forgotten the info mate. Taking up golf as a stacker is always a good move for promotion.:PDT_Xtremez_35:

Yeah golf and 5 or 6 charities reps should sort you out........ I find being able to count helps........oh yeah, if you know the difference between a DNR and a DNN (Old school at ya)

Aye charity is the ticket and whatever you do try to avoid going away on detachments, glue yourself to that desk in front of the OC's office in SCAF if you have to in order to gain as much face time as possible. Ideally contract a case of Basrah ankle or Kandahar back (though nothing too serious that'll stop you getting signed on/promoted) and sit back and wait for those stripes and possibly an MBE to roll in.

If its a charity event that combines all three required elements for easy promotion, such as a charity OC's and brown-nosers golf match all the better. Get some gym time in (its easy when you work SCAF) in order to build up those muscles in preparation for carrying two golf bat bags and don't worry about the work you're supposed to be doing, some other bugger's efforts will carry you.

Thanks guys, you paint such a good picture of life as a stacker!

From what I can gather, you have to be picked up on a promotion board of some kind. Is that right?

Dan I would suggest the Recruit area for your questions as your more likely to get sensible advice :)

Antone know how many SAC's - Cpls they want this year, believe the PSB is around the 10th -14th Aug, heard they quota for Cpl-Sgt was slashed in half, not great news for us!:PDT_Xtremez_09:

Guys, use the manning website, get it from the horses mouth. It is usually up to date with dates, quota, number reached etc.

Seems to me it is far easier to post on here and ask than do some research yourself. Try thinking and doing for yourself, you may just get in the 30!

Already looked on there, they have it at a quota of 90, if so fantastic, but hearing other rumours, sounds like it is more likely to be 45. Dates are 12th Aug-26th.
