As far as i'm concerned any party that has "nationalist" in it's title has similar attributes to the former German Nazional Sozialismus Democratik Arbeiter Partei (NSDAP) the well-titled National Socialist Democratic Workers party, that due to a snappy little newspaper headline, later became known as "the Nazi Party".

Remember - a hero in one persons eyes can be a terrorist in another's, and vice versa.

Obviously, I don't include all the Jockanese in this broad brush approach - just the ones who really believe that all separatism is good, and that - to misquote a good line -

"Tartans Good, Bowlers Bad!"

Just to get my tuppence in before this ends up in Fight Club:

Wales sent 12 athletes to the Olympics (under the banner of Team GB, obviously) and 5 of them came home with medals. We would have had nothing without Team GB's resources.

The UK is worth far more than the sum of its parts and we should celebrate that. I am a very proud Welshman but I have no desire to see us become independent (I even voted 'no' in the referendum on devolution). I realise that nationalist feeling runs deep north of the wall but I believe that if more Scots really thought about what independence would mean, Mr Salmond would find himself out of a job very quickly.
 
Jock independance is all huff n puff. I was in Edinburgh for one of their Nationalist marches. About 200 Mel Gibson c0ck clones walked through waving the Cross of St Andrew and nobody really gave them a second glance.

Personally I think they can bugger off if they want, it wouldn't hurt me at all but I'd prefer them to stay though along with the Taffs and the Northern Irish.

How the hell can you make such a bold sweeping statement on the basis of one stab at banter? Or at least that's how I took it. Away back to school and learn how to type in English man....

while i am a very proud scotsman (you can do that and still be british) i couldnt agree with you more chris hoy did indeed acheive somthing spectacular at the games but he did so with the support of team GB, and thats the way it should stay as team GB :PDT_Xtremez_28:

As much as I would love to agree im OOA at moment and cause we dont get newspapers till a week after I have no idea whats going on in UK lol

I dunno who Chris Hoy was , I thought he was chinese till one of the lads at work told me.

But I just assumed it was lets kick off at jocks thread by the way it was said ,misunderstanding no probs :)

Very very true!
Effective opposition could easily do that.
Salmon is quite good at bluster and photo ops and the red tops up here give hima lot of space and time wih his bold statements eg The Scottish Olympi Team etc
He will use an opportunity to say stuff like that, have his photo taken with anyone and make noises about whatever he wants.
 
I was listening to Radio 5 Live on Monday, when they were interviewing an SNP politician over this "Scottish Olympic Team" issue that his leader had spouted about. Strangely, when pressed as to how Chris Hoy and the other medal-winning Scots would manage to maintain the standard without the facilities and coaches that are all in England, he implied that it would be Ok for them to be based in England and train with the English athletes at the facilities in England!

These sponging SNP politicians are the lowest of the low. They want independance, but want everyone bar them to fund it.

I totally agree. I'm a proud Scotsman and I think the SNP are the worst thing ever to happen to Scotland. The only people I find that give them any notice are the brain-dead anti-english bigots who seem hell bent on Scottish seperatism, no matter the cost to Scotland as a whole. I think that a Scottish olympic team is inevitable, no matter how stupid an idea it is. I don't think it will happen before London 2012 though, probably after the 2014 Commonwealth games in Glasgow.
