Answer from the big man ...

Yes that's about right. What's e-goat? Have you got a link? Might be
fun to see who's saying what.

God he`s got a crap memory I`ve told him loads of times about the goat.

Big man indeed, I still remember the story about him walking out of the Quantock mess at Locking on their AOC day in 1985, wearing number ones that barely fit. One of the buttons let go and fell off. He reached down to pick it up, and the rest of the buttons followed the first one on to the ground.

I for one say why oh why did they shut 2 great camps in Buchan and Neatishead and keep Boulmer open

I stand to be corrected here but I heard something about peppercorn rent.
As the Duke of Northumberland (Liz relative) owns the land.

Addition:- He once rocked up at the Ops gate with the Alnwick hunt to be let on. SAC Guard asked him for his F1250 ... :PDT_Xtremez_31:

Certainly was a big man, a mountain climber defo but a Rugby player not, First and last game for Boulmer he came off with a broken finger and that was that.

During Volcanex with the T99 (RIP) he spent the whole night cleaning out a 1 colour Cam crean container and then filled it with compo chocolate and sat eating away to his hearts content much to the disgust of the French and the Pongos.:PDT_Xtremez_28:

You are quite correct about the peppercorn rent. If the station is handed back it has to be turned back to farmable land, cost of doing that to Brizlee Wood was the equivalent of keeping it open for 20 years! There was cost incurred with returning the old Admin Site to its current state, but anyone who remembers the state of the buildings will know it didn't cost too much!

The main problem with moving everyone back to Boulmer may be accommodation, the SLAM money was taken back by HQSTC (at the time) when the announcement to close was made. This may need to be found again from somewhere.

Norfolkred, that was the same exercise where the big chap and mself discovered the ease with which one could drink red wine all day by using the "Thermos Cup" method! An awesome time was had by all, especially those who made the drive and had money coming out of our ears!!

Thermos Mugs!

Thermos Mugs!

Hahahahahah forgot about that. Thank god for them, I have NEVER been so bored than in those briefs.

Done 2 tours of Boulmer racking up 7 years there in total. Managed to avoid the hole both times and I think that is a major factor in people's opinion of the place. Ive worked in a ops room environment once (down south) and that got to me enough. Thinking of the CRC I just kept imagining Griffin but on a grander scale and the thought of having to work there used to make me wake up at night sweating!

I like the place and would cut my right arm off to spend a few more years there. The area is great although the locals are a bunch of '2 Heeds'.
