Swine flu duties

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Unit policy here is to send all personnel 'diagnosed' with swine flu home to their families thus ensuring that it isn't spread to their work colleagues or others in the accommodation. Let the family look after them I say! Though to be honest, although many people are diagnosed with swine flu, given the abandonment of the actual testing to see if they really had the disease, a lot of personnel have been sent off probably either with a common cold or just standard 'man-flu'.

I see the subject of the medical centre's not treating personnel out of hours has reared its head again. The main reason apart from the fact we have to cover the flying commitment and on some cases QRA is that the Doctors joined in with the whole idea of having someone else doing the work. thus after 1830 hrs we don't have a Doctor on call, everything has to go via the PCT. My medics would love to be able to treat people because the current policy is leaving them somewhat deskilled but we can only do what our leaders tell us. I spent many happy nights at Aldergrove stitching up various head wounds after a NAAFI bop.

Stevienics,

I refer you to my last post. As a flu buddy you are not expected to have any contact with the patient. You will only be at as much risk as their postman (when they are not on strike).

I re-iterate: NO CONTACT WITH PATIENT IS REQUIRED! Knock on door, leave items, go. No one is being forced to do this either!
