Morning all. Please please help as I seem to be bangin my head off the JPAC wall. I left last year redundancy. Yet my "Termination of Service Certificate" states Administrative as a reason for Termination. Cue ironic giggle as the last job I did was P1. funny

Anyway JPAC are telling me that to get this fixed I should send it back to my last unit (Uxb) for them to fix. Sounds like load of bull**** to me as it was a JPAC issued form.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

What is this certificate? I never got one when I left in Jan just some pokey piece of paper called a Valedictory Certificate which doesn't mention why I left, just how long I did.

Thinking further on, I did a big spiel for my Flt Cdr on what I had done and where, etc., which I was under the impression would be used to write some sort of character reference. Have I missed out on that too?

Jimps

Jim i ended up with three. You get a veterans badge aswell, so you might want to chase that up. Think you can apply for one through the veterans website.

How things change.

I got a reference from a Sqn Ldr in PSF who had never met me, one from the Sengo written by the Wobbly and one from the shift FS. I got a certificate of qualifications, certificate of discharge and several letters of thanks from various qualified weapons officers for detatchments and APs but that is just an armourer thing.

Just completed 28 years and am now on reset and terminal leave. Left work yesterday and not a word from my boss. Although new in the job and a Flt Lt but not my trade said jack shoite. This is exactly what to expect after many years service or is it. Is it not the norm to get an invite from the hieracy for an informal chat or are we all to busy to care. Saying that my 3rd RO admitted that he did not even know who I was when i asked him about my SJAR, cheers.

Bitter and twisted maybe, pished off O'h definatley

We don't want worthless bits of paper. We want something that someone has spent a bit of time on! many people are leaving after 22 yrs and I know they don't expect a gold watch but they want something more than a crappy bit of paper!!!!!

Ditto NR!!

Left Marparts a few weeks ago and it was all they could do to say 'where do I sign' so I'd feck off out the office right after; so that they could get on with THEIR VERY IMPORTANT JOBS.

And I'm NOT joking!

THEY don't give a rats ass and that's a FACT!

You only realise this when you are in your last few clearance days.

It's a very sad dog-eat-dog world we live in:PDT_Xtremez_41:

My troops send out the paperwork for these, in doing so we include "examples" e.g. by rank and suggested content. The write up winds its way through (allegedly) flt and sqn cdrs to PSF. It is checked by a JNCO, SNCO then comes to me. Apparently, regardless of whatever qualifications I hold, or not, it is my job to check the content, spelling, grammar and syntax of same flt and sqn cdrs and accept or reject it accordingly. In recent weeks I have rejected 95% for reasons too numerous to bore you with here but you can guarantee they occupy an inordinate amount of my time. However, whinge aside, I suggest the solution is to provide nothing more than a letter on headed paper saying Name, rank, no,joined, left, and was employed as. Why? cos people will never be satisfied: they didn't like the F856 (old blue book) nor the Val Letter, and now the current format seems no better. You could then take the afore-mentioned letter and put it proudly in the front of you NEW blue book (PDR) alongside your ACRs, and course certificates! How's that for a GEM, can I have cash please?

Hmmm, so how much money will it save the RAF ? Hmmm didn't think so.....still gotta have someone doing what your doing no matter which pile of sh1te they provide.

Sh1te GEMS.......but knowing "them" will think it a great idea !!

I was discharged with the old blue book and it has served me well. I had references from the peiople that mattered written separately and keep those with it. It provides a good general background to my tme in the mob and indicates my character and reliabilty.

My line Manager has done a testimonial for me but to where it goes is beyond me. I have heard that some Civvy does the final write up on someone they don't know or even have had contact with. Bit like the SJAR sometimes. At what point do you get this little piece of history to call your own, any recent demobees please advise.....

NR your Line Manager should return the testimonial to Guin HQ where a grown up will sign it off and send it to your dishcharge address. As for timescales we send these out 9 months prior to exit and request their return within 28 days of issue. However, as with everything admin for non-adminers, they seem to slip to the bottom of the pile.

That aside, you could always be proactive and chase it up yourself, or as one did last week, write to your MP to complain.

My last day of service was 1st Feb.......last month got a letter on headed paper from the staish dated 14th May with a basic write up of my career and where i have served......The same sort of write up used in 6000's by 1st and 2nd RO's. It is addressed "To whom it may concern" and looks like it's intended use would be at a job interview.

Will get it scanned so you can make your own mind up !

Like to see the personal touch, through the post. I take the days are over when you get the chance to have a word with Harry so he can keep in touch with the coal face, then again the truth always hurts.

Thanks for the gen lads, I won't hold my breath

IIRC, it is only the SNCOs and Orifices that need to see Harry when they leave. Mere pond life like most of us hardly get a look in. let alone a decent word from our Flt Cdr!:S

I believe everyone is to have an interview with Harry when they leave the Service (happy to be corrected). Sure someone told me it was in QRs somewhere. Certainly this happens where I am.

Whatever happened to JPAC sending the Testimonial? One of the JPA TG17 reduced tasks - responsibility where it lies:with the LM and CofC - not HH.

(p.s. I have yet to receive mine 15 months later - sad, but not surprised...)!!
