As a side issue to the topics being discussed on the other shiny threads. A quick question that someone out there should be able to answer fairly rapidly.

How come DSPA Southwick Park does not have a useful intranet page. In it's old guise as Sec TS there was a fairly useful couple of pages.

In light of what is going on within the Trade would it not be useful that TG17 had a central focal point to all things Admin based? (and no I do not think that the JPA splash page already answers that question!)

Even searching within the internet only really shows a page that is linked within the Army Web so not much of use there.

It's a good question and one that was brought up at the APC last month. There is a forum that is currently being introduced but only those personnel on the JPA 'Chosen Few' list can post questions! I've sent you the E-Mail so you can have a look at the details.

It's a start and a move in the right direction.

HS correctly states that it was mentioned at APC 07. However, as with lots of things "Shiney" at the moment, it seems to be taking a bit of a while. Surely 1 or 2 pages of Intranet stuff can't be that difficult to produce?

Cheers for that e-mail and you are right that is a move in the right direction, but again it is being brought along JPA lines. My view and something that Tommo mentioned in his post is that how difficult is it to put a few intranet pages together at Southwick Park and drop links to it via the Admin Page on the Main RAF Intranet page. Nothing major, but things like useful courses, diary dates, generic TG17 info of note etc etc would I reckon be of use to us as a whole.

Whilst I appreciate that a lot of info is out there, a simple pull together of all TG17 info would save the trawl of reading through a myriad of different sites and station intranet pages.

I suppose it's trying to get someone to manage the site. We all know that WO JPA has far too much on his hands to be able to juggle this project too. As I said it is being developed, but slowly, as Tommo suggests.

The Branch and Trade sponsor used to have a site thru the old HQ PTC intranet site, it's possibly still there, buried somewhere. Shame, spent a lot of work on it.

From what I can gather, the TG17 website that was discussed at the APC is currently 'work in progress' and might be live quite soon

I think that you will find that the problem is twofold. Firstly, the old Sec Sponsor site is, I believe, located on the Innsworth server and, as we know, with Innsworth shutting down it is difficult to maintain a website on that server. Secondly, Air Command now primarily works on a CHQ portal that is on DII; the only problem with that is that units that have not yet rolled out to DII (most of them) cannot see that site. Of course, again I believe, the old STC website does now not have the personnel (I nearly used human resources then but stopped myself just in time) to maintain that site.

In respect of the School of Administration, I believe that they have their own problems because of where they sit within the joint Service training hierarchy.

oops - the only option that I can find is http://adastra.rafweb.raf.r.mil.uk/live/general/payandpers.htm. (again an Intranet site)

Again might be in the wrong place, but the only thing I can find referring to ACOS A1 is their Org Chart, but then not had the luxury of Chf Clk giving us any information!!

They are both ok websites I suppose but I would routinely use my units website and just have a load of favourites saved (where you become at risk of missing things) which is a bit of a nause but does give you information just by lots of mouse clicks. I have had a look at other units' website and the best one I can find is Brampton/Wyton/Henlows as it's regularly updated. Bit of a manpower drain though - who has time to do nice things like that? Check it out at http://www.wyton.raf.r.mil.uk/live/NewJPA/Index.htm

Good day from the IT Cell at RAF SA. The short answer is work in progress, we have been working towards a way forward on this matter for some time. Under the command of HQ DCLPA our site will be published on the DCLPA website, which is yet to be developed. The planned rollout of software is end of June and we hope to have our site populated within the given timetable and up and running by September.

For now, details of courses at RAF SA are published on the TGDA website at http://

Hope this answers your queries. When on your next course look us up on the top floor.

regards

Cheers Samaman and welcome to the goat.

Did you come in especially for this or planning to stick around?. If it is the latter pop over to the introductions forum and say hello to the rest of the goat.

Reference the above, nice to get a straight answer about what is going on. Catch you around the site.

Why thats me!!! Thanks for your comments Small Change.
Why is it a manpower drain though? Its called overtime and wanting to help the customers to be informed of all the JPA developments (helps us too) and isn't that what all the PSF's should be doing anyway, its not that hard or time consuming to keep a website running!!!
Plus it saves about 20% of volume of f@?kwit phonecall questions which the clerks would normally get, as personnel based here know to look at the website in the first instance.

The all incompassing Branch and Trade website will be up and running in a matter of weeks, this will gather together all matters admin as well as being a B&T website. The B&T sponsor's web pages are still running on the old PMA website, but it will be shut down, once the new one is up. Got to go, lots to do.
