Whilst the formal name is of utmost importance let us not forget that TG4 is still without a meaningful nickname. What should we call ourselves before the wider Service community labels us with something no-one likes?

So a new nickname for TG4 is required, thinking caps on then lads and lasses:PDT_Xtremez_30: .

Nice to see the "humorous" way they have mentioned E-Goat. People are starting to take note of the potential this site has to offer rather than viewing it as a bit of an embarrassment.

Like you made up peanuts? what a bag of w@nk that was - they only people who called you that was yourselves.

You will get a nickname, but making your own one up never works - it'll just push things the other way. Whoever said that that needs a slap.

Are'nt we transfering 300 IT posts to the DCSA to civilianise? IF so:

TG4 will not be doing any IT apart from OOA.
Most of TG4 will be working on electronics based kit (no change there then).
Why change the name of the trade to something that will be out of touch before the actual name change goes thorough?
Why call the newspaper ICT warrior for same reason above.
Why be sarcastic in the e-mail saying 'information hungry TG4' when all they want is correct information (that is not just made up 10 minutes before posting).
Why send out the newspaper in TimesNew Roman - when IT policy says ARIAL.
Why are there always problems with the IT at Halton? Hmmm.
AE erectors should have gone to TG5 not TG4 - my mum could have worked that one out.
Peanuts should not in any circumstanses be let loose on any kit which requires brain power.
What planet is the TS on?

Anyway - the new nickname: I remember when a nameless TG4 Cpl wanted to be called Peppe. We all called him ploopy and it stuck for 15 years. Lesson learn't?

Nothing to do with the TS set-up. I have just never seen an ex TG11 person have a go on these forums about ex TG3 just because that's what they happened to be. However ex TG3 can't seem to help themselves. Do you personally know the I.Q. of every single ex TG11 person?
 
How about calling the new ICT people "ZAPS" or "BUZZ"

Cos they`re all going to get them sooner or later ...

Or CPR cos that will be the first thing they ask if you know when they work with you.

I don't want to get involved in a TG3 v TG11 debate That must have been covered in the past. All I know is that you can't have TG11 guys working on TG3 kit to any degree of depth other than A/A*. They do not have the training. The TS office seems to think that they can - they are wrong IMHO. They (the TS) seem to think that TG4 is IT based - there is some IT but the majority of the work is old electronics kit - always has been and always will be. It's a big cock up that needs sorting out properly and tinkering around the edges will not solve it. Appologies if I offended the peanuts but the truth is that it doesn't matter how clever you are if you don't have the aptitude to work on dangerous/sensitive electronics equipment you shouldn't be made to.

Appologies if you took offense at the peanut line - if you replace brainpower with training I think we are nearer the mark.
