TG3 MOANERS and Whingers association!!!

TG3 MOANERS and Whingers association!!!

I am more than happy for abuse, but why can we not simply draw a line under it. The painters have had their entire trade destroyed and are now at the end of their cycle as it were. It is time that we moved forward and embraced the new methods. Perhaps even turn them to our own advantage?

There is always the fact that the new situation will fail and in fact there will be a u turn on the current thinking and we will find a requirement for technicians, such as at TCW! ERAS! or even 1ACC?

I have all the time in the world for constructive critiscism, but this moaning has gone on for nearly two years. We are paid extremely well, is there really such a problem with going IM.

The avenues that are opening are exceptional, working with the likes of the Typhoon and ultra new kit that is coming in straight off the shelf. This surely sets up everyone with the potential for being an extremely rare commodity in the outside world as they will be experts!

Incidentally why do you apologise for being on the technical forum as an ex TG11 when we are all the same now?

Zak, rather than jump in with both feet, it's probably best that you look around the site. Comms Lad replied to your now deleted posts because he knows what the score is, and could see that you were out of order.

Why not have a look in the peanuts' own forum for a start.

And if you think that just because you have had a couple of years to get used to amalgamation we should forget the past - think again. It will be at least 15 years before there will be a real TG4 and everybody is on an even keel.

FFS, the first question that we ask someone when they arrive in a section is if they come from an AD/AF/TC background, and that amalgamation happened in 94.

:PDT_Xtremez_06:
Wow I can't even begin to answer that one Zak, Trust me I whole heartily agree with MC on this one, though as a friendly gesture I would bring the time to us being equal to maybe 10 years, hows that.
:PDT_Xtremez_28:
I have been given a few 'TG4 - IMs' and I would not trust em as far as I could throw-up, whats worst is that when working with other trades they all assume that they can happly given them IT kit to fix - scary
:)

That must be the best example of Cosford brainwashing I have ever seen. The clue is in the trade title: CIS Tech.
For you to be under the illusion that we are all the same, ask yourself this: We can walk into any IM job, how many CIS Tech jobs can you walk into? (Hint - it's a round figure.:PDT_Xtremez_15: )

Personally I think every Tech section should have an IM, since they have done away with the old style mech, it's hard to get a decent brew around here.:PDT_Xtremez_31:

I assume this was a joke?
rare commodity? Every man and his dog will be MCSE soon. IT is easy, IM is just a lot of discussing and changing folder structure and the way we store our data. Helpdesk, well that's rare too ask ?

How to tell us apart

TC - chip hat
AD - (ex rapier) dodgey tash and a sandbag for the war stories
AF - chain smoker -only has boys

CIS tech - miserable with chuff chart counting down till pension

IM - driving a new car trying to figure out how to turn on his fancy new laptop now he is a IT genius.

I joined in 93 as an ELM, so cant be judged as a AD/AF or TC. What category do the ELM's fall into. On JPA it says on one page that I am a CIS Tech on another IM. Go figure.

I might add that I have never had a stable belt, chip hat or clicky shoes. Hell I dont even wear service issue shoes.

The new TG4 "fitters" are going back to Tossford next year, so I think that we will see a change in 7 or 8 years personally. But up till then they will still break it and we will still fix it.

One confused Studley :PDT_Xtremez_35:

I usually make it a point of not answering posts that smell of troll, but this one really did make me laugh; I'd love to know about this ultra modern kit that TG4 is getting to work on. The last couple of sections I've worked in have been pretty much at the cutting edge for RAF equipment, but it's still years behind what's being used out in industry.

It's already been said, but the answer to the second part of your quote above is simple, you should apologise because this is a techie forum not a TG4 forum, it's for those of us that have been Eng Tech EL.

Back on topic: I really hope this is just a rumour, I for one won't be wearing a ringpiece on my tapes.

What if they gave all CIS Tech Sgts 4 propellors to go with their stripes? :PDT_Xtremez_15: I suppose we could always give the SAC(T)s an extra propellor as well.:PDT_Xtremez_31:

It's funny because it's true:PDT_Xtremez_31:

You just know that we'll eventually come full circle and that's exactly what’s going to happen.

Outstanding post!! :PDT_Xtremez_30:
I'm going to forward this to all my colleagues here in the outside world...
we're going to be quaking in our ergonomic recliners at the thought of all you experts coming to take our jobs.......

I can hear them now

"They tuk arr jerbs......!" :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Incidentally, the changes occurring in Comm's in RAFworld are merely reflecting the changes in the real world, we get muppets promoted off service desks (TG11 equiv) promoted into our posts (TG3 equiv) formerly requiring 10 years experience and a minimum HNC in electronic engineering. Now all they need is to 'show aptitude' and of course demand lower salaries..... :PDT_Xtremez_25:

The ability to ask whether the customer requires 'fries with that' is no longer considered a disadvantage.

ROFL, I almost wet myself when I read that, the Navy have recently gone full circle, they all turned into OM's (Op Maint) and then back again. That took 6 years if I remember correctly. Just 2 postings then all will be back to normall then. Got to grin and bear it.

I seem to remember one person getting High Rec for their 1st (not a typo) report! Farce!

Mate, if you think that is bad....

There were 2 sac's at my station. They were the Sgts project. Both had every course going while the rest of us were left with fack all. They were both made Acting Cpl at the same time, though there were cpls & sgts still in the same office. And then Both promoted to Cpl after 3 years out of training....

I smell a rat. Or a dick of a sgt. I wont say names but i'd love to.

Btw - all of the above were tg3, including myself

Did one of them get posted on promotion to Cpl about 2 years ago to somewhere oop north?

What region oop north? I know of a shoe fister that got his tapes after 3 years of being in the arduous climate of cyprus..... on a helpdesk! I despair, I really do! This person had the initials of A*B. But have seen lots of people who've been in a lot less time than me leapfrog to their tapes by virtue of having a fag with the SNEC and generally having their nose araldite'd to the seniors bottoms, informing of all the good work (they get paid to do) that they have done, and poo-ing on the guys who make genuine mistakes!

Seems the Air Farce is no longer a team, look after No.1, that's what i'm doing from now!:PDT_Xtremez_25: :PDT_Xtremez_25:

its all sh1t

its all sh1t

Right i got told told to get promoted you need a few reports off diffenrt people blah blah
ANYone who gets picked up after 3 at the same place {SAC to CPL or CPL to SGT} as they were as the previous rank should not be allowed to be promoted,
The whole system stinks. Nuff said. get some experience in. I don't smoke I work but has done me no good.
Someone pass me a lighter and some rollups!!!!!!1

There is the infamous ELM who got his 3rd after 3 assesments (same post) He was (and probably is) the ultimate brown nose, about 20 secondary duties (useless at primary task - I know, I worked with him) He also had a personal meeting with the Sqn Ldr to discuss what he should write on his F6000 first page.

Prime throbber numero-uno.

Oh and he never went to section tea-breaks, just sat at his desk looking busy to make the other guys look sh*t.

Crap Prop knows who he is.

Jesus, you guys make brown nosing for tapes sound like a modern invention.
We had this back in the 80's during the halcyon days of time promotion and I'm pretty sure it was rife when Trenchard got his third.

Took me 5 years to get my 3 year time promotion, That's what happens when you expose your Sergeant for the crap that he is. :PDT_Xtremez_06: The toadies that covered for him got theirs bang on time. It's the way it's always been and the way it will always be. You don't have to like it though. ::/:
