RAF Intranet - Publications Library - Personnal - AP3395, Vol2, Lflt 1551 for TiSWas, Lflt 1583 for 85 EW at Wittering.

That AP is not listed! The wing are hard to find..... maybe it's not meant to be? :)

Try AP3392 Lflt........

It is there, I have checked twice now....

Go to your supply admin office and say you want to join TSW! There is a form, but wittering had hard copies for me to fill out.

Oh and pack a kit bag...you wont need to unpack for 3-5 years :) ha ha ha

Ding dong, wing mong.

I remember years back when TSW were mentioned in some Janes guide alongside other specialist units within the British military. For some reason we were included alongside the likes of the SBS etc and a few of my esteemed colleagues took it all a bit to heart, thinking that we were actually some sort of Special Forces, much as RAF Regiment think they are actually comparable to proper infantry.

I also remember an attempt to teach fieldcraft to some stackers by a well known 'warry' Sgt stacker. Despite the fact 4 of us he was trying to 'teach' were ex-Infantry he still tried to tell us that when crossing a road at night you should group together in a bunch and slowly creep across the road and that if an enemy patrol saw you they would think you were a bush or something.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

You could always do a search through Microsoft Outlook and ring "The Wing" direct as I'm sure the Admin Office would be quite happy to send you any information, or on the other hand just go on JPA and select TSW as a posting and lo and behold you'll get it, trust me there's more than a couple of SAC's at a base in Wiltshire that did it and they're now propping up the bar in the Litten Tree is Stafford when they're not out thumping their chests and shouting "Wing before family"....

give them a ring

give them a ring

you could always give them a ring...my hubs will answer any and all questions lol. Be prepared to mingle really well with the army thats just taken over stafford. Its great honest lol. Worst case scenario your not home for 10 months of the year..they are a bit busy at the moment. It can be good for a laugh..lots of beer etc, but like any posting its what you make it.
But yes...wing before family lol

Just had the signal of my posting onto the wing and looking forward to it.

I'm a Supplier over at Brunssum on a shortened NATO tour so you take the rough with the smooth.

Any info on MoD Housing as I've heard they have allocated the lot to the incoming Ghurka Reg?

Any info would be great.

Ask for the 'new' builds on Ellington Avenue if you want a modern (less than 20 years old) quarter with a garage attached. You will pay top whack for them though. Or be stingy like I was and get one of the older MQs, they're ok and you only pay Grade 4 rates...bargain!

Or even better, just buy your own house like I did, best thing I ever did!

Thats exactly what I'm thinking now. I've been told I'm housed at Cosford and the houses are tiny because we only have one child.

Any places to buy a house that you would recommend? i.e Cannock, Rugeley, Hednesford etc etc.

Cheers Normski.

I'd just buy in Stafford mate. Quite a few lads from the Wing live in the town. I like it, it's a nice place. Not too big, but big enough with all the shops your missus could want, plus Birmingham, Manchester & Liverpool all with easy reach.
Just avoid a few areas of town like Highfields and Western Downs, they're the least desirable areas of Stafford.
Baswich, Wildwood and Parkside are nice. All depends on how much money you got mate. You'll be ok with all that lovely LOA saved up from your IDO tour. :PDT_Xtremez_15:

Thanks for the advice Normski. I was wondering if Cannock or Rugeley are ok for property as well.

PM me if you get the chance mate.

housing

housing

Whoever told you there were no quarters is talking monkeys mate. Yes the ghurkas have moved in, but there are still lots of empty quarters available. The main probs is the shortage of 3 beds...however there are a few lurking about..been empty for a few years..and no sign of any work being done on them..so they havent been allocated yet. As you are coming from overseas then you get priority over the ghurkas etc which are only, I know that sounds naff but only doing a uk move if that makes sense.
Being housed at cosford is a farce..should take you about half hour 40 mins to get in and out to work..which on an evening..you really really dont want to do. Your best bet is get back on the phone to dhe..or give the wing a ring to see if they can do anything for you housing wise. They do look after their own and will do their best for you.
