Are you for real?

Are you for real?

Perhaps we can agree that all members of TG 4 are equally capable of of doing I.T. Perhaps we can disagree? both sides a lot of ex11 and some 3 really can't get into the whole IT thing.

The truth is that whoever thinks they are being done out of a job, both sides of the trade needed tg 4.Again I disagree what has changed except the trade names and a load of time and money spent on assim?

CIS Tech (Ex TG3) are over manned (120% ish) So why the block on promotions?and were it not for them being put into IM slots that used to be TG3 anywaysome would have undoubtedly been made redundant. Some are very bitter about that! That is why some are being offered the chanceBlackmained? to formally re-muster from CIS tech to IMbut keeping their TG3 Q's in case of DWR, not to be confused with those who retain their CIS tech identity but reside in IM slots.

IM (Ex TG11) are undermanned (80% ish) and therefore CIS techs are required to fill the gaps.Left by TG3 being posted out of those slots TG 11 legacy posts are also being cut - commcens etc, and therefore TG4 has been a shot in the arm to the trade.Badly thought out lifeline

These figures are pretty much correct - I'm sure there will be posts saying that the trade sponsor etc cocked up, but these decisions are made at the very highest level Without listening to any of the concearns of the bosses and guys on the ground!and after long deliberation, so those who blame the trade sponsor if things aren't going well for them are being simplistic in the extreme - we are effectively a new trade and will take time to settle. We are still doing the same F'ing jobs but just under different names surely you can see this? And if the trade sponsor does not have any say or responsability over the direction of the trade then who would YOU blame?

Finally, the people who will really benefit are actually those who are going through training now as by the time they are ready for promotion tg3 and tg11 will be dim and distant memories R.I.P.!!Really? They will benefit from being forced through an IM route or Cistech route dependant on SERVICE NEED? They will benefit from the delayed/ poor BT courses? They will benefit by having assesments done by disgruntled overstretched ex TG3/11? They will benefit by having the tower, OC's shouting for stuff to get fixed while they have to explain they have to wait for a contractor to be called out because they don't have the specialist skills? They will benefit by being in the low payband until they are required to be promoted? By which time we will all be in the low pay band? They will benefit working for ATLAS (who seem to make DCSA look like a great employer!) They will benefit by the huge backlog of promotions caused by the loss of CT rank, promotion rush in the ex 11s trying to fill the gaps and delays with the merging of the AE trades, and of course the prestige of now being called an ICT technician?

I know I shouldn't rise to your obvious rose tinted/ brainwashed view?

( Or maybe you are back from your trip down south and want to stir it all up again just as people have decided to chill and cruise till their pension?)

................just as people have decided to chill and cruise till their pension?)

That's what I'm doing now - no (minimal) promotions so probably have to get out in a couple of years.

Chill !

Isn't it comical how the only people who think TG4 is a good idea is always the Ex-TG11 CIS IMs?? Or am I just being cynical?!

Then again. For us Ex-TG3 it isn't funy. Nuff said. And as Gray said...CHILL!!!

SPot on RJL and since TG11 are the minority, most of TG4 think its sh!t.

The other day, one of my ex-TG11 SACs, with 6 years experience and fully assimilated actually said:

"What's bandwidth ?"

Scarey.

Shall I answer this, or shall I leave it to you guys still in the mob?

It all depends on the perspective.

Mine: RF

A band of frequencies a circuit allows (passes), without the circuits output amplitude falling by a defined value of the maximum amplitude..

Its like asking them to explain the Avalanche breakdown phenomen, or Flemings left hand rule (ok the last one is easy)

In the same breath. I remember a certain DE TC JT (J**** L***) once asking why there was DC-DC rectification:PDT_Xtremez_42: to 3.3v on boards

In exactly the same way that it seems to be funny that only the ex TG-3 who think it's sh!t.

Stop moaning RJL and get on with the Fecking job........ Moaning is not going to change anything.

I know what you're saying, but IMHO a lot of the jobs that were designated IM should have stayed as CIS Tech. It's a bit weird that all of a sudden CIS Techs are overmanned and the IM trade is 20% under. You are trying to say it wasn't the fault of the TS, but the TS went to units and in a lot of cases, declared TG3 jobs to be TG11 and didn't listen to the bosses - or the people on the shop floor.

I'm hoping that the new guys/girls coming out of training CAN deliver as promised, but I feel that they will be short of the technician capabilities, as the legacy (enduring capabilty) jobs will be around for a lot longer than the short sighted TS thought.

MC is correct, the TS came to my little section in Cyprus and changed 6 out of 9 posts to IM. A heated discussion followed, from which I was removed and the changes stood.

Endgame your stats are right, but you didn't take into account the amount of CIS Tech posts lost to IM. Now you see why we are over manned and you are short.

As for the "we did IT first" bit. I was posted to an ITMS post in 96, there were no tg11 to be seen, it was TG3 and TG2. This was before networks, it was nearly all standalone systems we looked after, this required Tech knowledge. The IT courses then were all civiy courses(nice claim).

TG4 will work in the future, when the legacy kit is looked after by civies and we are pulling our pension.

********

UB,

Just out of curiousity.

Which trade in TG2? Do you mean the ST trade? as they eventually moved over from TG3 to TG2.

Jesus H Christ, I started this thread as I was interested to see how the mixed slots were going and yet again it's the same moaning characters with nothing constructive to say, just "TG4 Is Sh1te" and "the TS cocked it up" followed by the usual bollox about TG11 not knowing tech phrases, how the feck should they, ex TG11 aren't there to take over the running of the Radars.

I'd be interested to see a TG11 on here seeing how the Tech side is getting on in a legacy TG11 slot?

Phone rings. Phone gets answered. Cord plugged into socket corresponding to number caller wants. Call connected. Array of multicoloured pens checked for alignment. Phone rings........

Have I passed yet?

FFS everyone. Deal with it !!!

Its boring now

Look i agree, our TG4 forum is just a bitch and a winge at everything, you look at the other forums and they actually try and help one another and have a laugh.
I thought by starting the post something constructive would come out but once again i am not disappointed.

constructive?

constructive?

1, Many mixed slots (FS) are asking for EX TG3
2, 10 weeks of expensive Assim training? BW is the bread and butter of any IT Network and is no way a tech phrase in this instance!
3,They can't work out how to log in ? (sorry couldn't resist!:PDT_Xtremez_42: )

Hope the first 2 answers are constructive enough for you?
