Uniform @ JMLC

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Also speak to your Line Management. Explain the situation to them and ask if you can wear your boots to work for a couple of weeks. My FS was cool with that.

If they say no then, just wear them out and about in your own time.

FFS wear what you are given irrispective of make, as long as they are not pink not a drama! Had my Magnums for donkeys now and worn them on GST and IMLC no problems. They are not out to break you legs!!!

I did JMLC in August and the instructors are all switched on enough to realise that kit doesn't have to be straight out the packet. As long it isn't damaged and is well ironed it should be okay. Also because of the amount of trekking about that you do on the leads, they were fine with people wearing their own boots. (It avoids the queue for the med centre building up too much!)

Good luck; just play the game.

Where are your second pair of boots? You are supposed to be issued 2 pairs.
Nope, 1 pair unless you are RAFP who get 2. At least that was when I went through Halton on basics...

Now I have about 6 pairs that stores won't take back, the cnuts. Issue combat boots, safety boots, magnum safety boots, magnum desert boots, some weird and wonderful cold weather boots that look like a cross between hiking boots and corrective footwear, and another pair of steel toecapped boots that are a cross between the original safety boots and combat boots....

DMS boots. P!ss in them and let them soak overnight. They'll be dry and supple by morning. Won't rub your calves and won't smell. Fact. :PDT_Xtremez_14:

When I was issued CS95 I was issued with an additional pair of boots. I said I already have a pair thanks but I was issued another pair anyway as you are supposed to have two pairs. Perhaps it's changed since then?

Unless it's changed twice since then, I joined up in 2000 and got a single pair of boots, some of the other recruits at Halton had to wait for weeks for a single pair of boots, too many of us were size 9, and my surname beginning with B put me close to the top of every roll call so I was lucky to get mine.

Long time ago it used to be one pair of shoes for work and one pair for best/parade, and one pair of working boots.

I'm on my JMLC now (middle weekend) we were told when we were inspected on our 2nd day that painted shoes are fine.
Any boots are fine, no chit required. In my syndicate out of the 8 of us 4 are in issue boots 2 in magnams 1 in altbergs and I have no idea what the regiment chap has on, I've never seen them before.
Get as much of your WBA done before you go I did mine before and it was a god send, you have enough to do without that as well. And if you have a printer take it.
Don't forget your Fmed 566 or whatever it's called they go mental if you don't have it. Many have been RTUed over it
One week doe one to go. Just got to do my lead on the CLT and my 10 minute presentation on air power. and it's all over.
I've had a great time so far, really enjoyed it.

Bugger, my name starts with Z, 30 years on and I'm still wearing my school shoes!!!!

Current initial issue is as follows:

RAFP: 2pr Combat boots, 1pr Shoes (No1's for parade)
Everyone else: 2pr Shoes (No1 & No2's) and 1 pr Combat Boots
