What about them.... its a boat, the navy can keep it!

the jets that fly off it shud be ours though.

And then the problems of mixed Service crew rears its head. AFAIK, most people join the RAF to work from terra firma, not from a fecking boat/ship/whatever.

Dont care. if it can fly it should belong to the RAF.

You might well be happy about a 3 - 4 year posting on a big boat but I'll bet there's plenty of your same service compatriots, and their missuses, who wouldn't be.

Live to serve!..... dont want to serve? get another job

I thought these threads were supposed to be welcome threads...................!

Get a feckin room you lot.

And don't forget Aircraft Carriers sink.

Bugger that for a game of Soldiers.

That's the very reason I didn't join the navy. I had seen the film 'Sink the Bismarck' as a kid and there was no way I wanted to be below deck in a sinking ship. So I joined the RAF only to find myself aboard the Hermes in 82: locked in, four decks down, pretending to read a book with one eye on the escape ladder whilst the voice over the tannoy said that two enemy aircraft were heading in our direction. D'Oh.

Did my serving and now got another job... but still serving (which all adds up to nearly 32 years so far mate).
Nowadays, more than ever, the lines have to be blurred between the services to achieve the ultimate goal, it's about time some people started thinking outside of the (or should that be 'their') box. And if your username is an indication of your background then you should understand that better than others IMO.

make n mend?

If you don't know what make and mend is you should a) get some in and b) google it: Linky - you'll be asking what Nutty is next! :)

My old man was a submariner during the war... the thoughtful look on his face when visiting HMS Oberon in Leith Harbour made my mind up to join the RAF!

Hello to allI was invited to visit by a member of your 'esteemed' forum. Ex 'ahem' Senior Service' by a goodly number of years, but I dare say that will not stop any friendly banter being thrown my way
Ahoy there shippers, welcome to the goat. Served with a load of you lot last year in Afghan. My 'oppo' was a Chef CPO, ex field Gun team member, one of the strongest lads I've ever trained with....really really good lad. Then there was the Cdr, a submariner and a complete Admin Vortex, Cdr Chaos we called him. Thing is, he was totally brilliant too......wouldn't have changed either of them for all the tea in China. Looking forward to some good banter me old matelot.
