Viva Las Vegas???

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
JeremiahBullfrog - If im not mistaken, this thread was started by someone wanting information on a post he was considering, and all you have done throughout is bitch and moan about how we all think we have it hard living in Las Vegas.

To be honest mate, I think your an ignorant pr1ck!!!!

I'll be honest with you, I love being posted to Nevada. Its a great experience for my wife and kids as well as for me. I'm sure if you were out here, you would also think the same, yes???

If you speak to anyone in our position out here, not one will tell you that we deserve a pat on the back for what we do. Why??? because 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, we speak to the guys over comms who do have it extremely hard, and at times see the results of when it goes bad for them. They are the one's who truly deserve praise!!!!!

As for articles about how we go to Starbucks on the way to work, fight the good fight and then go home for tea, yeah that can happen. The reason why that is mentioned is because its the first asset we have had with that capability, so why not mention it.

But don't for one second think you can sit at your computer in your own little world and tell us about what we do and how we do it, and whether we deserve it or not. You know a very small amount about what we do, and there is a very good reason for that which i'm sure I dont need to explain.

Now, can we get back to giving some gen to decent people who actually have some worth while to say.

Sorry SSH, had to be said. Rant over, off to bed.

No, it is an opportunity that could not be missed. Luckily there are 3 clerks so no 12 hour shifts. My daughter cannot wait, she will be starting high school in September and we will keep her there to achieve her high school Diploma. This has been a bonus as she has always wanted to goto college in the US.

And the job at Virginia Beach is utter utter utter fcuking rubbish, @rse dribblings of the highest order! Here speaks the voice of experience! (During its highly enlightened time at RAF St Mawgan). Id avoid it like the plague, unless you really really want to go to the states. I know a guy out there now how absolutely hates the job but enjoys the country and the ability it gives him to get out and about on a bike.

Agreed.

The job is pants, but so far it's been worth it (to me anyway) for the travel opportunities etc. The LOA doesn't hurt either :PDT_Xtremez_14:

Sir Salty's info is potentially incorrect and there is still a small chance.

You may have noticed that the Secretary of State announced an increase in the MQ-9 capability last December 15th in the House. Details are still being worked, but, (and its a big "but") there may be some TG1 and TG2 opportunities coming on MQ-9 in the future - this is very much TBD as the plan for the extra capability is still being worked in 2Gp and DE&S.

TG4 is almost a "given" for any future requirements.

My advice, and I am very close to this program, is to keep a listening ear out for future developments with Manning if you are interested. I briefed a load of Manning staff at COS Pers's "How goes it?" session just last week but I cannot put the details of the potential options on here (they are so immature that they may never happen anyway!). No firm decisions as yet, but, I reiterate, TG1 and TG2 future inolvement may be possible in the future, but I do not expect any firm plans this side of Easter. Even then these new opportunities may not be materilise until mid 2011+.

Please, no PMs for questions as I do not do "internet dating"! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

So, what you are saying is that I am right

Taffeast,

There are other TG1 posts in the area especially if you have an ew background. I've just spent 4 years on and off out there, thoroughly interesting work and a great social life. Oh and no gruelling shifts but the odd days travel required which you get back as toil. Speak to manning.

Hi all.

I’m currently deciding where to go on my next posting (2nd Sgt tour) and working on 39 Sqn has been attracting my attention for quite some time. The next available post that will likely become available at my current rank will be in Jan 2012, which fits in nicely as it will be about the time I’m due to move on from my current post.

Can I come and join your air force please. It must be brilliant to decide where your next post is going to be, and not just be told where to go by some ****** who couldn't care less about you or the preferences you have requested!!!!!

Have you ever picked up the phone and had a good chat to said ****** telling him your ambitions and aspirations whilst asking him to help you achieve them? Just filling out your preferences these days isn't enough...

For us plebs, not possible anymore, not that it made any difference anyway.

Sorry...didn't realise you'd lost that facility...But someone could phone for you right?

All I know and have witnessed first hand is that he who bangs his posters desk repeatedly pretty much gets something like what he wants...even if sometimes done by the poster to stop the annoying twonk from bothering him!

Yes there is an op appollo bod on each unit(or soon to be) as I understand it all ranks soon will go have to go through the system. I suppose by the nature of the system it's going to be a variable outcome depending on lots of things. My first hand experience is well ..... best not to stray to far from the topic.

That's how I managed to get the job out here. Ok, it was before Project Apollo kicked off, but it would be nice to think that it still pays off going the extra mile, rather than just sitting back and waiting for the workflow to come through.

I have heard from this side that they are pushing for some kind of Specialist Interview or Selection for the TG11 posts. Don't know how far that has gone though.

Firstly, I apologise too Sixty, and sorry Sir Salty, but as Billy says, manage your own career. If you want a job, ask. I was flippant on my first post as I thought that if anyone got offered USA, no matter where, they would take it at the shake of a dog's, for the travel opportunities alone.
All you boys in Viva have given some great info, but speaking with the DA the other day, I think we are all under threat in USA as cuts will be made (through jealousy of post from the UK or future requirements) to the numbers in US.
Any future posts will be scrutinised to death, as to there needs! Phone, ask, take and enjoy.

Oh dear, so the system is in complete failure mode then. Now as someone has already mentioned the junior ranks cannot phone the aforementioned ****** any longer. I feel that it should not be down to individuals badgering the drafter to get the post they want. This is the reason that the open door is now firmly shut.

Sometimes all that is required is a little compassion on the other end of the phone and an explanation of what seems to be a very strange decision. If any of you lot that are in the god like position are reading this, please remember it may not be the most important thing in your life but it is huge to the person on the other end!!!!Off Topic

As for the viva las vegas, has anyone else heard mutterings about a JCA evaluation team being set up at Edwards AFB in California???
