Is it just me or does this trade suddenly have a serious lack of overseas or posting opportunities? I check the Chief Clerks Bulletin every month and over recent months we seem to have had nothing - not even Instructor Duties, TSW or Northern Ireland- and yet people keep getting posted Overseas we had a few Cyprus tours at the start of the year but now nothing? :PDT_Xtremez_28:

As far as I know (unless they have changed the JPA rules again) you are not supposed to apply for overseas on JPA but respond to the trawl signals sent out to PMA/ACOS Manning, not being in a 'traditional' Sqn I don’t get to see any signals but regularly ring MOB's to see if anything is on offer and again no body seems to hear of anything. However people are getting posted overseas-how?

Any advice/tips would be appreciated as being a cautious fella I am not one for ringing the desk every week or so to see what they have planned for me but is this the way forward, I cant believe this is what the desk wants? :PDT_Xtremez_23:

Think thats just the raf in general now. although my stacker mate went from FI to sqn for a couple of weeks and then for 3years in germany!!!! you stackers do seem to have that advantage over other tradesl, so its out there. (from disgruntled sooty who cant seem to go anywhere)
 
Robby, good point fella. Do any of the Three Banana's in the Stackers forum know when the IDO/NATO slots are coming up ? I reliase there are probably only thre or four around, however, like Robbie, I check the volunteers lists regulary on the PMA site and have seen nothing overseas except Cyprus since the start of JPA. You see bugger all on the our page while Adminers, good god, some real good slots go through their lists.
 
Maybe there's just no slots at the moment and in a few months they'll all come up! Doubt it though. The Adminers do get the good ones. Mate of mine just wangled a posting to Ramstein!
 
Just checked the latest bulletin online at a camp not too far from Swindon and there's nothing for Stackers of any ranks, it's starting to get a bit boring looking through every month and being disappointed, mind you with the new system I can categorically say I wouldn't be on the list anyway seeing as though I came back from my last overseas almost 6years ago......








The new system is cr@p !!

I have a family member who is a FS Stacker. He's just vacated his NATO post in Turkey and is now enjoying life at the not so secret wokka wokka base.
 
Believe the Cpl Stacker job at SHAPE is due in Dec 08, though it could be sooner as he is the unluckiest man in NATO, run over, food poisoning (or something similar), missus goes into hospital to give birth and housing want to replace all the carpets that week. Believe this happened within the space a few weeks when he first arrived. So you never know could be sooner.
 
There is a slot for a 2 banana coming up in November 07 at Afnorth that has'nt been filled yet.

You're all quite right. There is NOTHING coming up. Only DWR slots. Oh happy days. Not bitter about it but just got mine through. Had a visit from the previous trade sponsor who said, and I quote, 5 year turnround for sgt stackers. Bollocks. Will be 3 when I go next year.......

Only found out when I checked the manning plot too.
 
3 years sounds about right - I am going 3 years after I got back, but with the number of Sgt's who haven't signed on and as such are due out in the next 18 months I can't say i'm surprised - but thats a whole other thread!

Going back to the original theme - any Sgt posts coming up next year??? More importantly how are we expected to volounteer JPA/NOT JPA - every JAFFA has a different opinion?

These are all 3 banana slots.

I may be able to get some info on 2 banana or SAC slots if anyone wishes info.

Ramstein is about to lose 2x Cpl slots from the SU side (non-NATO) - they're being shipped-out to Brunssum...

Also 2x MTD SAC slots going the same way - all due to recent over-zealous manning cuts at Brunssum... :PDT_Xtremez_42:
 
To one and all I can only suggest that you all dis regard the NPC post and Brunssum posts - you would hate it - go for Ramstein or Naples.

(on the other hand if you want to get rid of me I will sacrifice my 'career' and hide away in Brunssum for a few years to let the trade move on!)
