Or Izmir! They're all lovin' it over there!

Nothing to do with the excellent weather, holiday destination and the particularly high standard of females there though... Oooooh noooooo!

To one and all I can only suggest that you all dis regard the NPC post and Brunssum posts - you would hate it - go for Ramstein or Naples.

(on the other hand if you want to get rid of me I will sacrifice my 'career' and hide away in Brunssum for a few years to let the trade move on!)

Its all for the good of the trade folks!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Sorry mate but have to disagree with you there.

Naples is a poor destination, work habitat grotty and the standard of accomodation is awful; seen it with my own eyes.

Ramstein has had LOA cuts and what they do get is swallowed up by Housing costs.

2 promotions from Cpl to Sgt at UKDSU Brunssum and 1 at the NATO delegation.

NPC also had a Cpl - Sgt promotion on the last board.

I'd recommend Brunssum to anyone only don't expect an easy ride.

PS Robby I'll pop you an email when I'm back in the UK. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Edit: Just noted the sarcasm Robby. I blame it on the Bitburger.

I'm not a stacker but I work with 3 on my team. The 3 banana was telling me promotion is getting quicker for you lads, specially at the top end. Mate of his did 3 yrs as a FS (3 yrs!!) and is getting his wobbly. Admittedly with a spec rec, but even so. My colleague expects his crown imminently.

That's because all the FS are doing 2 years then leaving and a load of Sgts are PVRing. Ho bloody ray! However, it may leave us with a problem in a few years when we have some very young sgts/Fs and WO!

Bring on the pension

Ok lads, a couple to look out for in the next 2 years.

AFNorth Aug 2009.

Izmir Jan-Mar 2009.

NPC Glons(Belguim) Jan-Mar 09 approximately.

These are all 3 banana slots.

I may be able to get some info on 2 banana or SAC slots if anyone wishes info.

:PDT_Xtremez_40:

Can you give us any info on SAC slots too please.

cheers

I'll claim this one!

I'll claim this one!

Yes i'm afraid so, this is my small victory!
Three weeks ago I asked where all the overseas posting vacancies had gone and good old PMC/PMA/ACOS MANNING pull a whole load out of the hat- thats success in my book.

Having found the list on the ACOS Manning site I can now happily volounteer - oh no I can't- I have been nominated for an OOA next July which just about covers all the available slots- hey ho!

One last question - how does Cyprus get 5 Sgts that need replacing in the same year- seems poor management to me unless of course you have 15 Sgts in Cyprus? (seems the movers have a similar problem):PDT_Xtremez_17:

But lets not complain we have Overseas postings again- hurrahhhh:PDT_Xtremez_28:

I'll have some of that action. Will PMA let me go with only 2 and a bit years left to do? I'd be dead keen and everything...honest!

Well it's the 20th and the closing date for both Cyprus and Ramstein so is anyone out there of the 2 stripe brigade waiting on some good news in the New Year ??

:PDT_Xtremez_42:

A total of 10 slots so could be in with a shout (finger crossed as I've just about got enough time for an overseas and get my resettlement in)...

Been told because I came back from Bruggen in 2000 I have no flipping chance:S

I did indeed. alos banged in for R'Stein too. But after being told to poke off my desk I accepted a UK posting instead.
Merry Crimbo

Robby, good point fella. Do any of the Three Banana's in the Stackers forum know when the IDO/NATO slots are coming up ? I reliase there are probably only thre or four around, however, like Robbie, I check the volunteers lists regulary on the PMA site and have seen nothing overseas except Cyprus since the start of JPA. You see bugger all on the our page while Adminers, good god, some real good slots go through their lists.

IDO slots are all ready up so to speak my pal is heading out on one first week of feb....
:PDT_Xtremez_09:

I'm trying to get to Ramstein this year, as they also have a Cpl Pers Admin slot coming up later in the year aswell. Co-location overseas under JPA is almost an impossability. But you never know.
Anway I spoke to the desk and because me and the missus came back from Asi in 1997 we wouldn't be considered at all!! My gripe is that at the time we were SAC's. Now we've moved up the ladder, surely your previous overseas service should be quashed and you're back in the running once again. Does this sound slightly fairer ?
Rant over.

I've got to agree with you fella, this whole idea is stupid the old 'list' was perfectly OK everyone understood how it worked and those that wanted to go away volunteered and those that did'nt made a conscious decision to stay in the UK on MOB's. This new idea allows sudden impulse decisions to be accepted and then repent at leisure in addition you often dont know details about the location - schools, housing, medical, spouse job availability. Apart from Cyprus almost every other Overseas posting is pretty much isolated from many of these facilities in addition to the requirement to live in the local community - not everyones ideal world. - but I love it!:PDT_Xtremez_28:

Complete tosh. On average before I could actually draft someone to overseas, I often had to go past 30, or 40 people to check whether they still wanted to go. Peoples circumstances change, therefore the new system allows them to apply when they actually want to go overseas. The timescales allow everyone to do the normal checks (schools, medical, housing etc etc). Priority is now given to those personnel who have never been overseas, then by return date from overseas for those who have. I'm not sure how much fairer it could be given that there is no ability on JPA to maintain an active OVR.

Thanks Tommo and I do see your point but as a 'customer' it is not 'Tosh' it worked perfectly well - those that wanted to go overseas could and those that didn't - didn't.
Furthermore from what you have said about JPA the Overseas list is just another failing on JPA- why do they even list overseas postings on it? ::P:
