Wearing of Rank

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Off Topic Yes, but it was fecking entertaining hearing about the SWO giving him the 'about turn' and him being marched straight back in to get charged for being incorrectly dressed.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Off Topic

That's a myth, as far as I'm aware as I was the escort for that little escapade, He did go back into the CO's office, with his hat on, for a little interview ref not using beer as an antidote to overcome a fear of flying. I'm don't remember the SWO actually charging him for the incorrectly dressed bit (though knowning the SWO there, it wouldn't surprise me), However what was without doubt was he lost the stripes big time within the following weeks thanks to drinking a skin full of vodka a few hours before he should have been on live armed guard.

Nah sorry lads I just dont get it. The reson your acting up is because it's required to hold that rank for the job not a parade. The OP is (AFAIK) going to be A/Cpl and he's probably only doing a parade or such like. What difference does it make if his uniform say SAC or Cpl for that? I was acting up for 16 months before November last year and I certainly never considered getting my No 1's altered in that time....

Hactually sweet thing, you should have got them altered accordingly. During that period you are, regardless of some peoples habit of putting A/ in front of the rank, a JNCO/SNCO with all that it brings, therefore you could be in a position whereby you are wearing your No 1s and are expected to be i/c some kind of flight/section. For example, HM is visiting the Unit, everyone is in No 1's and she is visiting your Section where you are being presented to her for a job well done. ATEOTD, the service pays for the tailoring.

Mind, I bet you dealt out a lot of Corporal Punishment!!!!

I've just got acting rank and am unsure how long I will have it for so in order to attend mess functions and the like, I got my acting rank put on it. Why not, I'm not entitled to the Mess Dress grant and rightly so.

I dont think its sad to get it changed, especially as the OP is actually required to wear his No 1's which would mean he would be incorrectly dressed.

I know of two occasions where very junior Cpls were given acting Sgt in lieu of someones OOA and both went out and BOUGHT Mess kit. One finally made Sgt but had to get a new Mess Dress as his original didn't fit by then (no allowance back then) and the other never made it to that rank within his 22.

Ha ha I'd only give out punishment to the really naughty boys..... Might have to take them into my Fg Off's office for a wee chat about it as well!! :PDT_Xtremez_42:

When I got an Acting rank the SWO made a point of telling me, during an awards presentation rehearsal, to go to clothing stores and get the rank put on my No. 1s.
I ended up keeping the rank so it wasn't a problem.

It would appear that as Acting paid SNCO, so long as the information is posted on JPA, I can claim for the Mess Dress grant. Bonus! I am due substantive rank in Jan 13 and there is a chance that I could hang onto acting until then.

We had an A/FS pre AMLC, act up as WO, wore the rank and made a complete tit of himself. Had it up at a trade conference and took many justified hits..Should never have got his FS, absolute joke.

I would double check that! It might apply if you were awarded SPAR (Special Paid Acting), however I would say that you are only Local Acting Unpaid with maybe subs pay.
