What I want to know is why they changed the offline expenses forms and not tell anyone. I got a really irriating call (correction I got a message from someone in my office who took the call) telling me to submit all the claims (approx 150 for basic recruits)next time on the correct forms. They were on the blood correct form when I started, it wasn't my fault they updated the form and the web site without telling anyone.:PDT_Xtremez_25:

To be quite honest I don't see a great future for TG17 within the next 5 years. I was an SAC Admin clerk, then did a P&A conversion course, then went Admin Sec. Now outside the RAF and now in corporate banking. From friends & mates both TG17 & Admin Sec there seems to be a distinct lack of morale and even less direction from Senior Management. I know that there is a PFI being written to have a civilian manned call centre probably within 45 minutes of Manchester that would be the death of PSF. There would be a small P1 & P2 functionality retained at larger units and everything would be IVR (Interactive Voice Response) and then you would get thru to a mark one human who would have your service number and the nature of the call and area of concern or action point required by the time you first speak to them. It's a pity but you have to move with the times, PSF is an incredibly expensive overhead and with uniforms / pensions / allowances the physical cost of ownership is very expensive indeed. With the drawdown and closure of some very large bases on the horizon it will be an intense period of rationalisation and centralisation of assets. I know of two blue chip accountancy firms that are currently writing the market testing tool for the RAF to provide quantum on them providing the service. This will then form the model for a super PSF using civilians providing an 18hr woking day service to cover the world and shift workers !!

Joker, I appreciate that you are just passing on things but will this new super PSF near Manchester also provide gate guards? Will they be able to send 2 guys over everyday next week for an hours parade practice for AOC's the following Monday?

It is not only about saving money...The military is also about having bums on seats, and boots on the ground.

Sounds like another short term gain to me.

Joker we already have a civvy manned Call Centre to deal with it's called JPA, and it's already falling apart.

Falling apart so badly that another 6 clerks have been robbed from around PSF..sorry I mean HR Admin :PDT_Xtremez_32: and detached to JPAC for an unspecificied period. Note that is ANOTHER 6 clerks not just 6 clerks! I have been advised that I should get back into the mainstream of my trade to be competitive for promotion :PDT_Xtremez_09: but if that means being just another call centre monkey, then I will be happy to bimble along, get my 22 done and GTF out! We have had little or no support from senior management, but still expected to get the job done, no matter what the problems are. Then get patted on the head, get a well done and get effed over when our F6000 gets written. As a very knowledgeable Rock one said, we are merely stepping stones for our esteemed masters to get promoted on!

Seen so many biffs get picked up that I dread to think of what our trade will be like in 3 years time. The odd good one gets picked up but they now seem to be the exception rather than the rule. Off Topic Sounds like a new thread for the Grips my sh$t forum!

Yes sadly it's true they are looking at the demise of PSF and this HR Admin is really human remains admin. No disrespect to former & serving TG17/Admin Sec folk but the trade/branch is on it's way out. My best advise is to remuster or look for a civilian job. Longevity and 22 avec pension will be very rare in TG17 now. It's really not nice to see but as ever the RAF is ran for aircrew by aircrew. To that end all of these trade sponsors and WO Pers Admins in Head Sheds and Directorates are complementing each other, crawling over each other and getting ready for a pension and their 2nd employment. I can honestly see a 'purple' clerk emerging within 5 years that scan work equally in an Int Corps Registry, a Ships Office, an Eng Wg Registry & PA to First Sea Lord. There is a distinct lack of backbone from the trade sponsors and it's pretty poor to see that they have not boxed clever or fought harder.

I remember that last TG17 Trade Sponsor's roadshow that came to my neck of the woods about the end of 2004. I seem to recall the words we don't know what will happen' being use whenever we asked the question 'what'.

If they didn't/don't know we truly are screw*d!:PDT_Xtremez_35:
