WO promotion is it worth it?

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
In answer to the original question, of course it's worth it no matter the financial rewards, it's the kudos that goes with the rank, in my opinion.

Ah RAF Bird, the usual drivel as usual.....I've got bigger tits than you, blah, blah, blah.

What he's doing is actually questioning the rank of FS as a stacker. So perhaps the post question should be, "Is promotion to stacker FS worth it as I'll never be taken seriously and all I'll spout is White Noise???

I wait with bated breath for your next stunning response.

OMG how old are you?

Oh sorry I should have realised your head is too far up your arse to get a bit of banter. It must be all them pep talks with the stn cdr! :PDT_Xtremez_32:
You may think he is questioning the rank of FS but I think your interpretation of his post is wrong. Perhaps if you get off your high horse and re-read it you will understand what he actually meant!................ of course it could be that I am wrong and I am the one misunderstanding his post........... but I doubt it! ::P:

RAF Bird, with head taken out of arse, banter accepted.

Thing is, if you read my earlier posts, you will see that I agree with the majority of his post. If someone considers promotion to WO is not worth it just for the money then they are completely in the wrong.

To me, if/when I get my Tate & Lyle it will be the pinnacle of my career, to become the best that I can. How many people can say that they reached the highest rank they could, certainly not 99.99999% of officers, that's for sure.

Perhaps I have misread the post but I would like to think, even as a Sgt, that any input I gave was treated with respect and not simply regarded as white noise.

I was only speaking of my general experience, and how that changed when I became a WO. I did have times as both as a JNCO and as a SNCO where I felt I was being listened to but that was the exception rather than the norm; as a WO I do feel that my voice generally carries a bit more weight. Or maybe the rank gives me more confidence to express myself.

As a Chf Clk the role dictates that the incumbent would generally have greater access above OF3 level, as FS SCAF or most other stacker jobs this isn't really the case and hence my experiences. I never for one minute meant to suggest that all FS experiences would be the same as my own and I consider it regretable that my comments were construed that way however, I will not be editing my post.

BJW, thanks for your post and, personally, if any of my responses caused offence, then I am sorry as that was not my intention and I would not expect you to change your post.

Now how does one go about gettin ones head in between RAF Birds' boobs???

Well after page 1 of this thread I was bored stiff with all you lot patting each other on the back, and at page 3 the insults start to fly, wow.
Getting back to the subject, I found that even at the lowest level people senior to you always listened to what you had to say. Its all about how you put things across or the strength of your argument, so I dont see why you have to reach WO to be listened to.

Agreed, but there is a huge difference between being listened too and being taken seriously.....

It would seem that our Lords & Masters no longer think its worth investing in our WOs as they have scrapped the 2 week Jt Service WO Course as a savings measure for PR10.

Meanwhile our officers continue to spend months/years doing staff training...

Something about the price of everything & the value of nothing.

I personally thought my career peaked at SAC the fact that I have been promoted ahead of that shows the vagracies of the system. However I have found that the threat of physical violence has always got me noticed, in fairness usually to the legal system.

Even from the lowly Sgt rank we have a duty to our beloved commissioned brethren to ...lets say point them in the right place. As a FS I feel I have enough clout to see the OF5 and have him hear my say.
Also I feel quite comfortable to tell my wobbly when I think a wrong has happened.
I am old school. Wobblies have earned their rank and i listen when the old sages pipe up.
They may smell of pi$$ but their wisdom, to me as a prospective bag carrying wobblie is invaluable.
That said I have met some right CNUTS in my time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worth it? Fekkin right it is, I fekkin love it! And I would have sex with RafBird, even if I would fall asleep half way through!
