Thing is, if you read my earlier posts, you will see that I agree with the majority of his post. If someone considers promotion to WO is not worth it just for the money then they are completely in the wrong.
To me, if/when I get my Tate & Lyle it will be the pinnacle of my career, to become the best that I can. How many people can say that they reached the highest rank they could, certainly not 99.99999% of officers, that's for sure.
Perhaps I have misread the post but I would like to think, even as a Sgt, that any input I gave was treated with respect and not simply regarded as white noise.

I was only speaking of my general experience, and how that changed when I became a WO. I did have times as both as a JNCO and as a SNCO where I felt I was being listened to but that was the exception rather than the norm; as a WO I do feel that my voice generally carries a bit more weight. Or maybe the rank gives me more confidence to express myself.
As a Chf Clk the role dictates that the incumbent would generally have greater access above OF3 level, as FS SCAF or most other stacker jobs this isn't really the case and hence my experiences. I never for one minute meant to suggest that all FS experiences would be the same as my own and I consider it regretable that my comments were construed that way however, I will not be editing my post.

Well after page 1 of this thread I was bored stiff with all you lot patting each other on the back, and at page 3 the insults start to fly, wow.
Getting back to the subject, I found that even at the lowest level people senior to you always listened to what you had to say. Its all about how you put things across or the strength of your argument, so I dont see why you have to reach WO to be listened to.

Agreed, but there is a huge difference between being listened too and being taken seriously.....
It would seem that our Lords & Masters no longer think its worth investing in our WOs as they have scrapped the 2 week Jt Service WO Course as a savings measure for PR10.
Meanwhile our officers continue to spend months/years doing staff training...

I personally thought my career peaked at SAC the fact that I have been promoted ahead of that shows the vagracies of the system. May I take this opporunity to congratulate you on not killing your 1st thread. May there be many more.
Off Topicha ha! I've come to think of it as a particular skill!
Even from the lowly Sgt rank we have a duty to our beloved commissioned brethren to ...lets say point them in the right place. As a FS I feel I have enough clout to see the OF5 and have him hear my say.
Also I feel quite comfortable to tell my wobbly when I think a wrong has happened.
I am old school. Wobblies have earned their rank and i listen when the old sages pipe up.
They may smell of pi$$ but their wisdom, to me as a prospective bag carrying wobblie is invaluable.
That said I have met some right CNUTS in my time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
