Hi, joined in 88 as A Mech P and shuffled round Leeming TPF for 6 years. After the fun that was a fitters course it was off to Lyneham with a stint on Primary Team (A Line) the onto the line for the formation of 47/70 eng and a great trip to the south atlantic. Then for some unkown reason Eng Records at Lossie. Not good. After that someone took pity on me and i had 3 years on VASS in Akrotiri, great tour then back to the UK last summer to Kinloss on the line for 3 months till promotion and posting has me sitting in an office learning the joys of what QCIT have to offer.

Started my illustrious high flying career joining up in the Plymouth CIO.

92 - Swinderbutlins, then Halton for trade training.

92 - Dream sheet asked for St Mawgan, Chivenor and Lyneham.
Posted to CASF at RAF Odiham on the Mid Life Updates of Mk1 to Mk2 Chinnies.

94 - MLU's were coming to an end and the OCU reformed as 27 (R) Sqn, operating Chinnies and Trebantes (pumas).

98 - Fitters course at RAF Cosford.

99 - Dream sheet asked for St Mawgan, Lyneham and Leeming.
Posted to 1(F)Sqn at RAF Wittering and then in 2000 it moved to RAF Cottesmore.

2001 - Put in an environmental and eventually posted to RAF St Mawgan!!! Hydraulic and components bay.

2003 - Got tapes and moved into Blade, Role and Tyre bay.

2005 - Engineered my own posting across onto the SeaKing OCU, 203(R)Sqn.

2008 - Civvies stole my job, got a dream sheet. Asked for Brize, Lyneham and a volunteer slot in Cyprus.
Posted back to Cottesmore where I environmentalled out of!

Pension trapped and serving time in a shed, which is work that I find thoroughly soul destroying.
Cant wait for the 22 to come.

I have to say it all went wrong from the day I went into the CIO in Hanley, walked in convinced I wanted to be Plumber, recruiter convinced me Splitter was the way forward, hmmm lets see

Join in 1979 as a FLM, spent 5 plus years on Fat Alberts. when FLMs went west I became a Sootie, I was still FLMing but now I was allowed to do Prop Oils and Mag plugs, so AF/BF's took longer?? 1985 posted to BFG RAF Laarbruch. First on 16 Sqn then the Engine Bay for my sins, anyone remember DSU II? Left in 1990. Did not enjoy being a civvy so donned the blue suit again for another three years on 216. Enjoy e-goat, it seems things don't change, same sh1t different day, decade/century... now I feel old.

Hi all, my name's Tim and I'm an ex fairy. Joined up in Nov 82 after basics at Swinderby & radar DE training at Cosford I was posted to The recce bay at Wyton in April 84. In 86 I was posted to No1 PRU at Wyton onto the mighty Canberra PR9s as a camera fitter. Couple of years later in Feb 88 I was posted to HaMS at Wittering where I cleaned computer screens for 18 months. I escaped from there in Oct 89 to goto 1417 Flt in Belize as a camera fitter on harrier GR3 on Charlie Delta hide. I left there in April 90 and was posted to TRRS at Scampton working on Foxhunter radar 3rd line and wasposted to Sealand in Mar 93 doing the same thing. Escaped from Sealand after 7 months and was posted to Laarbruch into the PAC working harrier flight systems 2nd line. Repatriated back to blighty 3 years later to II (AC) Sqn at Marham working Tonkas until April 2001 when I was posted to 1 (F) Sqn at Cottesmore working on Harrier GR7s. In May 2003 I took my crimplene trousers and pipe, joined the old peoples home and went to 3 (F) Sqn at Cottesmore with my third. After 3 years there I was finally sent off to the glue factory and became a divvy in Mar 2006. I now work for Thales Aerospace as a senior support engineer in Leicester.
