Acting paid

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
It's also a better system than giving you all your money and then demanding it all back again at the end of the year IMO. I know I would be terrible for deciding to just put double in next month to the savings because the fridge is broken, or I want to go on the pop, or I just don't want to save it etc etc.

The best thing I have found when it comes to acting pay and the extra money is to have a word with your admin, and tell them you dont want to claim the extra pay until your acting period ends.

This way you get a nice lump sum and also there is little chance of your pay being messed up with missing the pay run at the end of your final month, which could result in you owing money the following month.

The first time I acted up I ended up being over paid, which resulted in the following 3months pay screwed up.
The second time I acted up I got all the pay back dated in a oner at the end.

I too had a period of acting paid Cpl at my last unit before finally getting made up just over a year ago, and had to pay back money at the end of my acting period. In that case it was just the usual lack of communication to blame, but it was a pain in the arse nonetheless, so keep Admin informed is my advice, for what it's worth.

Incidentally, at the end of the acting period my JEngO called me in and told me he was really happy with my work etc, and wanted me to continue in acting rank. Before I had a chance to say 'of course!' however, he informed me that I'd be going from A/Cpl/Pd to A/Cpl/Upd, as they 'couldn't secure the extra wages' so I politely declined. :PDT_Xtremez_32:

Not sure if that'd be such a great idea nowadays though, it's not so easy to get made up in the current climate...

I realise this is pure rumour, and probably a little OT, but doesn't acting rank become substantive (post courses) after 6 or 12 months?

Just read the thread below, please disregard the above
