Assessments

Thanks. It' like you've known me all my life. Are you Micheal Aspel?

A JT mate of mine and an SAC(T) were given assessments by the same 1st RO. The JT had three highs on the board in question and the SAC(T) had 2 recs and a high. The SAC(T) got promoted over the JT.

System proving in action.

One of my Snecs said He'd have given me a spec rec but as I had no secondary duty, he only gave me a high.

Exactly, the instructions clearly state that secondary duties should not influence the actual report other than in the secondary duty box. It's feckwits like your snec that cause all the problems.

You can play the game and do seconary duties etc and hopefully boost your chances of promotion. Or the other option is to stand by your own standards and beliefs and hope you get promoted.

I really feel a good connection here. But the fact that "the game" even exists proves the system is flawed. And as you say, if my excellent level of work (not big head, 6000) professionalism, concessed to run shifts isn't enough, well, I can only hope I will be picked p for being good at my job.

Why did you not ask at your 6-month point how you was getting on, what 'rec you were looking at? If only high, did you not as for guidance to a spec?

the point is, secondary duties should not affect the reccomendation for promotion.

Agreed. What bout sport? I'm all for bods to go for doing sporty type things when manning constraints allow, but these days sport seems to be some folks primary duty, and their 6000 looks lovely, even although they are never in work. Hmmm.

but my question was "If only high, did you not as for guidance to a spec?" If the subject asks what has to be done in order to achieve a 'spec' and completes what is 'required' then he/she has an argument when the 6000/SJAR is written against what they were aiming for at the 6-month point

I really don't understand that. Is that a question or a statement?

I think the question is, did you get offered the Spec at your 6 monthly review and did your snec stipulate that you needed a secondary duty to get it?

If not, did you ask him what you would need to do to achieve a spec?

I forget who the original question was aimed at.

Correct CIS Tech.

My original post was made towards Gray as his/hers 6000 was downgraded to a high due to not having a 2nd duty.

I'd like to get that in writing if was Gray. The rules say secondary duties don't affect promotion (hmm ok). Got it on paper? Good. Promotion thanks.

He isnt saying it affected his promotion, it affected his report.
Someone who is great at his primary duty and doesnt have a secondary duty will not get picked up over someone who is great at their primary duty and does have a secondary duty. Its a fact of life, like it or not. In general when you get to a new unit, one of the first questions asked
"Do you want a secondary duty?"

Section SIF Committee Rep
Bar/Ents Committee

If their is someone in your section that has these jobs, do you think they are the only one from your section that can hold these secondary duties. It takes an hour a month at the most out of your life, family commitments or not.

Pity it was about 6 yrs ago, and only verbal. Snec was/is still a bit of a tw*tt anyway.

Was on a Navy run base with little chance of secondary duties - Got some now on an RAF base - Not that it's going to make a difference now :PDT_Xtremez_34:
