Let me say a big thankyou to you Mr Bengo I did indeed go for the Yaris in the end and very pleased with it I am too! Heres a pic of one similar!

So hopefully a few years of happy motoring for me, thanks again for the suggestions

You're most welcome. Yarises (is that right? or is it Yari?) are cracking little motors. It'll never go wrong (touch wood) and cost you peanuts to run.

Hope you continue to love it.

My prestige German luxury Estate has just come back from the local Independent garage with new brake discs front and rear, new brake pads and sensors all round. Came in to the tune of a Monkey (£500) :PDT_Xtremez_08:

yes yes I know, I could have bought the bits myself and fitted em for £155 but I just ain't got time.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE can someone tell me a good place to insurance fire a Fiat Brava....

Never, Never, Never buy one... It has to be the single most ill advised purchase (up to and including those purple hotpants) I, no make that we, have ever purchased. The parts are only available from Fiat themselves and are exhorbitantly expensive. There are no Fiat garages in my local vicinity and after only 4 months we have replaced.... 1x Fuel Injector, all leads, all plugs, bashed out dents, repaired bonnet and are about to have to replace injector no. 2. and it has an engine overun that we can't find the cause for but is fcking up my battery. Heap of poo....

I am that desperate that we are about to replace with an Escort... so......

anyone know a good place to fire a Brava (or wants to buy a nice runner, recently serviced, 4 months MOT.....)!!!!

(Rant Over :PDT_Xtremez_32: )

Ah don't you just love Italian reliability?

My dad drove a Bravo for 6 years until he replaced it in Jan with a brand new focus - he never really had much bother with it save the usual exhaust/worn brakes etc that you normally get with any car. He had some electrical gremlins especially on the boot opening electrical contacts but as an Ex-leckie, he solved them himself.

you could just admitthatyou have bought a lemon thatyou have slowly sorted and now know will be alright now but let's face it - it's italian and it will go wrong again.

There is still a market for these cars I reckon if the price is right so you may be able to get rid privately or maybe trade it in P/X - these car supermarkets will often give you at least a bag of sand P/X regardless of the condition.

And forget the Escort idea - unless you actively seek the authentic 'Chav' look! Not that Im biased or anything but I heartily recommed something German instead - how about a Mk 3 or 4 Golf?

Friend of mine is trying to sell his 2003 Suburu WRX STI, it's done 40,000 miles and is in very good condition. He's had it on the market for a while and wants £13,000 for it. I think that's a bit much but he insists that's the going price. The girlfriend wants to buy but I've looked on the net and keep telling her it's overpriced, what do you think BEngO.

Without stepping on toes here, theres plenty about. If the better half wants one look about, but avoid egay unless the cars have a proven service history.

WAY overpriced!

I reckon £10500 at a stealer and about £9500 part ex.

Anyway - the Subarus are like a certain part of the female anatomy (ie every ****'s got one) and are the modern equivalent of the XR3. Dare I say it? yeah, why not - they're an Airman's car :PDT_Xtremez_14: (dons tin hat and prepares for impact)

Personaly I'd take an Evo over a Scooby anyday - don't know why, probably because they are less 'common'

Ferk me you're brave - have you taken a serious look at some of the complete wankers that drive Beamers these days? They seem to be the next step up from the Saxos and the Corsas and are well liked by the perveyors of dodgy tobacco and hookers (so I'm led to believe)

Touche. :PDT_Xtremez_28:

For my liking, there are too many P and N plate scoobies around these days that look like they've just ram-raided Halfrauds - normally driven by an iffy-lookin young lad wearing a baseball cap back to front. The grey-import market doesn't help either.

And yes, there are lots of BMW-driving wankers. But at least they are wankers who have taste. :PDT_Xtremez_14:

there are lots of traps when buying cars off of flea-bay - but do your homework and there are some bargains to be had.

Look for motors with as much detail in the description as possible. Make sure the seller answers questions (so it's a legit seller) and if at all possible, make sure you go and see the car in the metal - at the seller's house and check the documentation. Those HPI checks are worth a look too.

Flea bay themselves are good at trying to stop fraud and there are lots of guides out there to help you a)bag a bargain and b) avoid the lemon and c) not get conned.

And scoobies are often trashed/raced/taken on track days/buggered about with (I think the modern fernacula is 'modded')/driven through hedges quite often etc so be careful!

It's cracking the flags here today, as they say, so to stop my beautiful prestige German Estate getting too hot inside when I come to leave work, I have remotely opened the windows and sunroof from my desk. :PDT_Xtremez_27:

It's little touches like that that really make you fall in love with your car...

You can't link the baked been tin rattler (Subaru) with the XR3!! The XR3 is iconic!! The only thing the subaru has is poke!!! Plenty of it mind, and that unique awsome engine note!! I too would personally have and EVO tho, Impretza's are like dog poo, bloody everywhere!! And the Evo is faster, however the EVO is colossaly more expensive to buy and run.

My A6 has the same toy!! Can't beat German engineering!!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

My cars have air con for when it gets a little warm!

Plus it stops some chavvy car thieves from stealing them when unattended with windows open.:PDT_Xtremez_15:

I could see my car from my desk!

anyhew, Karma has struck. The superior prestige german estate has developed an intermittent reversing sensor problem :PDT_Xtremez_42:

It fails when the car is heavily laden in the boot so I am suspecting either a wiring snag in the boot area or more likely, an auto levelling fault.

oh well, looks like Mrs BEngO will starve for a few weeks until the cash is there to put that right...

The superior prestige german estate has developed an intermittent reversing sensor problem :PDT_Xtremez_42:

Surely the only corrective action for that snag is to stop Mrs BEngO driving the car. As blokes don't need sensors to help them park.

Indeed.

However, one likes to ensure all systems are operative - I know I am ex VC10 EngO but I don't want my car's proverbial F700 to be full of Lims and ADFs ta very much!

BEngO,

From my office, if the weather is a tad warm, I can open the steel roof by remote and get into the convertible.

mmmmmmmmm Nice.

coupe convertible eh?

Does your office happen to be the Stn Hairdressers?

New Car for Mrs BEngO!!

New Car for Mrs BEngO!!

Mrs BEngO has been pootling around in her little Nissan Micra for 2 years now and her PCP agreement has reached 'balloon payment' time. As the car is worth £1500 more than the balloon, and FEngO is on the way, we decided to trade-in and get her another brand new car to suit her needs but with enough space for all of FEngO's tranklements when he or she emerges into the world. :PDT_Xtremez_42:

let's play a little game: Can anyone guess what we have just put a securing deposit on?

(and a little clue - I only insisit on German cars for myself - Mrs BEngO has whatever she wants as it were)
