I have been counting Top flight league wins, FA cup, League cup and European cups (Not including the inter two bob).

I am open to being corrected as i may have misread my info. eyes haven't been working well recently.

Can you really call the League cup a Major trophy? that puts the Smoggies down to nil!!

So, the League Cup doesn't count.

I have been counting Top flight league wins, FA cup, League cup and European cups (use cup, as there was only one) (Not including the inter two bob).

And now it does.

Make your fuuckin' mind up.

Your total is 11 - as previously mentioned. 4 First Divs, 6 FA Cups & 1 Fairs Cup.

4 + 6 + 1 = 11.

Heres my corrected list......

Newcastle
Top flight 4 (1905,1907,1909,1927)
FA cup 6 (1910,1924,1932,1951,1952,1955)
League cup 0
Euro cup 1 (1969)

Smoggie
Top flight 0
FA cup 0
League cup 1 (2004)
Euro cup 0

Totals Geordies 11 Smoggies 1

Many thanks Albert for pointing out my ineptitude for IT.

I see it as a duty to educate the afflicted, Max.;)

Ghandi and Capt what about the smoggies in this North East bunfight surely they deserve a mention.:PDT_Xtremez_28: Look at last years prem table

Smoggies - 46 premiership Pts
Barcodes - 43 premiership Pts
Blunderland - 00 premiership Pts

Why would i be bothered about that? Surely they should be compared to the other Yorkshire teams like Sheff united. They aren't in the bloody North East. They seem to hate Newcastle, but there's only one North-East derby and thats Newcastle vs Sunderland. I hate the mackems but am completely ambivalent towards the smoggies

No need to Capt Slog knows every cup, saucer and plate they have ever won since 19frozen to death. I see a very shortlist of Sunderlands triumphs appearing soon.

Sorry about the delay in replying TB but I was watching the Baggies and Wolves to see who might lose against Derby in the play off final (see Super Kev has still got the magic).

As for your query on the number of trophies Sunderland have won, here’s the answer.

Top Flight Champions:
1892, 1893, 1895, 1902, 1913 and 1936.

FA Cup Winners:
1937 and 1973.

“Championship” Winners:
1976, 1996, 1999, 2005 and 2007.

League One Winners:
1988.

That make a grand total of 14 trophies and according to the black and white’s own official website they have only won 12 trophies, the last one being back in 1969. Admittedly it was a European Cup. Albeit it the now extinct Cup-Winners-Cup and believe it or not I saw every home game, except the Semi-final against Rangers and I was in the Leazes end with my Sunderland hat and scarf on. Wouldn’t do it now as I would not get out alive.

So I believe that makes the Mighty Mackems the trophy Kings of the North East.

well only if you count the lower division championship trophies. I don't see many other clubs crowing about being a yo-yo club ::P: So discounting those it makes it Mags 11, Mackems 8, and Smoggies 1. So the mags have still won more major honours. (Yes before you start I'm aware the last 14 or 15 years have been the only period of top flight stability in Newcastles recent history)
