'Blue' Combats! Is this true??

Here's a question:

If the RAF absolutely has to create a special blue 'combat' uniform; why blue in PCS cut, which is designed to work with CBA and be worn while hiding in ditches and shooting bad guys, and not blue in CS95 cut, which can be ironed with creases and starched and polished and isn't optimised for body drama wearers? (unless the intention is to wear osprey AT ALL TIMES from now on :0)

Edit: and I've just seen the picture...:PDT_Xtremez_42:

CS95 wasn't supposed to have creases ironed and be starched either, it's just that being the military it went against everything our leaders had ever believed in. The pongos for instance took to melting the zips on the shirts (jackets?) to make the collars lie flat. If they were meant to lie flat there wouldn't have been a zip there in the first place.

I for one hope that this trial falls on it's face, I have no requirement, like nearly everyone in the RAF, to wear CS95 on a regular basis. I wear blues to work and then wear my issued overalls for my day job that involves getting mucky. Anyone who wears this all day instead of overalls is most likely a reesty smelly b*****d who will then go to the mess in the same stinking smelly rig they've done a days hard graft in.

Only difference to the pic from what ive just litteraly picked up (30 'volunteers' from Sqn) is,No RAF Badge, and we wear the green belt from cs95, and there is no way in hell id be wearing a stable belt not even for cash (well liney shiney pound i would)although the fleece thingy looks ok.

A certain 'high profile RAFP WO who's name rhymes with Bark' visited here a few weeks ago, and his Cpl was 'lucky' enough to be modelling the hideous uniform that this thread relates to.

When I asked who it was envisaged would wear it, the reply I got was that is was designed to go under coveralls to stop us techys getting our own clobber (or whatever else is worn underneath the coveralls) mucky. When I pointed out that if the coveralls get filthy, then this just gets the stuff under dirty too, and therefore won't actually be saving anything, just giving people more kit to store, Mr 'Bark' insisted it was only a trial, and if it wasn't needed it wouldn't be ordered...

Now, you might call me a cynic ... But I reckon the contract has already been signed, and is on its way to a Clothing Stores near you as we speak, and a member of the board of the clothing manufacturer might just be one of the retired Air Officers thats just been ;moved along' as part of the restructuring...

I think you shall all look perfectly charming in this , well, "delightful" garb.

I might caution though about wandering around in public too close to one of her majesties correctional institutions, lest an error or mistaken identity cause you to be forcibly returned there.

thank god the forces are loaded and haven't had to slash their manpower otherwise someone might point out what a complete waste of money this is :PDT_Xtremez_42:

I agree with the comments about the Blue PCS. However, the ones to blame are those who use every excuse in the book to wear DPM/MTP around UK stations even though there is now way that their job required them to be camouflaged. The usual excuse is that blues aren't practical enough for their duties yet the design of CS95 and now PCS CU is. Well someone was listening to them.

I have seen it on a few people at Lossie this week. Looks god awful.

Gentlemen (and ladies).

I'm afraid that we have all missed the most important question relating to this 'uniform' - can pilots/non-pilot-aircrew wear their wings/wing on it?

;)

Moot point. They don't wear anything other than overalls anyway.

Seen a couple of guys wearing at RAF Central on Monday, they look like something out of "MIAMI SWAT". If its ment to replace the coveralls fair enouigh but who thought this one up needs shot IMHO.

Exactely the blame for this abortion rests firmly at the feet of 1AMW, TSW, TCW(or 90SU), TAS, 2MT, etc etc. Blame those primos....

Look at at this way, if those strokers are responsible... its just another excuse to hate them that little bit more and get that extra kidney punch in when they are getting a shoeing in the bop. :PDT_Xtremez_14:

I'm at a base that's trialling them. I'm told by those that are wearing it that it is an extra uniform for techie types and people working in mucky areas. In essence it replaces coveralls. IMO it looks daft, like you should be wearing a balaclava and have LAPD SWAT across your back.

Shouldn't that be a 'T' instead of an 'S' on the abbreviation after LAPD?
