Corona virus

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Time (as always) for an unpopular opinion. Personally I think this whole lockdown should be reversed. If this carries on even for just a few weeks this country isn’t going to have an economy worth going back to. Levels of debt will be astronomical and the consequences for many, especially those already in debt up to their eyeballs will be dire. Yes, there will be deaths, perhaps I might bite the big weenie but shutting the economy down for an as yet unknown period is going to destroy us.

Don’t forget that people should be in work if they can, within the social distancing, isolation and shielding rules of course. There will be Companies and people who take the mick and there will be people in work who shouldn’t really be so, this is an emergency so it can’t be policed properly.

One of the reasons that places that McDonalds and such like closed down was probably less to do with employee protection, but more to do with the lack of customers, off load the cost of your workforce and you might be able to survive the crisis. Those that stay open will do well, my lad couldn’t get a dominos pizza delivered on Friday night for love or money, however if they’d all stayed open it would be a different story.

The other concern is that this is a global crisis, we have a global supply chain and a global market for our goods and services, if we decide to run the economy at normal levels how can this work, where will we get our parts from and who will be able to buy our goods.

I see Liverpool have backed down on Furlough and apologised, for me that takes all the pressure of the players.

How does it take the pressure off the players. What about spurs and Newcastle. They are still furloughing their staff. Don't see you having a go at those teams.

An admission here, I’m usually a careful driver however I got caught a few weeks back on a speed trap just over the limit. The speed I was doing would normally get me on a speed awareness course however there aren’t any now because of the virus. I’m now told instead I will get fined more than what the course would cost and get three points on my licence for three years which will put my insurance up, this is usually a penalty for a much faster speed. The get out is that the course is discretionary. So anyone pre virus and post virus gets a course whilst in between you are condemned for three years. Hands up I’m guilty however it’s hardly fair play! Just be careful guys.

I had my already booked speed awareness course cancelled, they've kept the cash though and are working on an online course for me to undertake. See what happens.

Just when you think the World Health Organisation couldn’t be even more useless, they are now advocating fir the reopening of China’s ‘wet markets’. Wonder what the next pandemic’s going to look like?

Shouldn't be a massive problem - the Bellend In Chief has just announced that the US will stop funding the World Health Organization, accusing it of mismanagement.

And apparently tens of millions of Americans are set to receive cheques worth $1,200 (around £945). But according to US media, the Bellend's name will be printed on every single one.

I give you the leading contender for 2020's Bellend of the Year Award.

Odious as he is, there is a certain amount of incompetence from the WHO over their actions in all this. What then surprised me is that after the USA the WHO’s biggest contributor is the U.K. What exactly does the British taxpayer receive for this?731127B5-FFE4-4623-8877-0E3F8268D591.jpeg

well I paid my £100 and received 3 pts. Apparently folks getting caught now for the lowest offence are just getting a warning letter because of lack of staff to administer the fine and points!

Much has been said about who is in more peril due to Covid 19. The government has been hounded for not adding certain groups to the figures. Yet there is one group that has been completely missed out. We know the elderly, diabetics, certain ethnic minorities, those with underlying health conditions are all, sadly, more prone to suffering an early demise through Covid 19. Surprisingly there is no mention in official figures of how Covid 19 affects GWARS surely this group must be included. Financially the makers of digestive biscuits and cabbage growers need to plan future production capacity.
