The Labour Shadow health whatever was on the TV yesterday, she spent half the interview scoring ill informed political points, encouraging health professionals to stop treating people and generally scaremongering (alleging higher suicides and other stuff), and then when challenged on what she would do differently just answered saying “this isn’t about political point scoring”.

Generally in life I find anyone who walks into a crisis and focusses their efforts on blame rather than solutions isn’t a leader I’d willingly follow.
When I was in charge of a med centre (back in the day!) I had a rule for anyone who came to me with a problem. I’d want to know what the problem was and at the same time, their idea for solving it. We suffer from politicians who merely want to virtue signal and like you said, score political points rather than do good.

Hey boss I've got this problem, my arms hanging off, now I could chop it off or I could see it back on. What do you think. Don't take too long, has its hurting.

Name these I'll informed political points. Ive read the Sunday Times article today and it says everything you need to know about the governments handling of this crisis. Johnson missed 5 cobra meetings, spent time at chequers rather than taking charge. Thus from a pro Tory rag.

I would hope that by before you strolled up to my office you’d called an ambulance otherwise give it another few minutes and suddenly it isn’t a problem anymore is it? Good old Darwinian rules eh 😁

The Times ceased being pro-Tory years ago. I cancelled my subscription to them late last year since they now just peddle the same crap as that poorly written rag The Mail.

No it's a medical centre it's now your problem sort. I'm glad I was never sick when you was around.

As the individual prior to her interview stated, PHE or the NHS did order PPE in January just in case this became a problem, even though at the time the WHO and China were dramatically under playing human to human transmission, unfortunately this was just at the same time as everyone else was ordering the same and the supply chain was starting to collapse (and I’d hazard a guess that China would be sitting on some export orders, as they would be the only ones who knew the truth about Covid 19).

The only way UK would have had enough PPE would have been to order lots or have lots of reserve stock when nobody know there was an issue.

The other point was to ignore WHO advice on reusing PPE where possible and safe to do so, she also went on about “anecdotal”, ie non existent, evidence of increased suicides in NHS staff.

Stocks of PPE were run down due to years of austerity and the government sent stocks of PPE to China.

UK sends PPE to China

Read today's Sunday times for the austerity piece
So the UK sent PPE to China to fight the early stages of the virus at a time, at a time when China was lying and the WHO were saying that human to human spread was insignificant. That’s what countries that display global leadership do, hindsight is great, but it’s always reflective.

Your article also mentions that we have received more back than was sent.

Well I wouldn't believe anything this government says at this moment in time, especially Gove.
