I didn't the idea of Scampton was a foul-up, I meant the way the idea was implemented. I realise that plans have to change but for goodness sake, the muppetry alarm was honking during the whole planning and execution of that!

NAIDOY, I agree with much of what you're saying but surely the problem is that powers-that-be are too tied in to their own idea of what the Service is about and as a result the support trades and branches are going to suffer as a result of the hegemony of the 2-winged master race.

Too true my friend, the RAF will be this way until a non flier gets into one of the top jobs (not holding my breath for that one!)

You only had to watch the last push of SKYLANCE to see what a jolly boys flying club we really are!

The sad truth is that we're back to a Buchan/Neatishead mentality. Rivalry between the 2 CRC's will always exist. Pathetic; yes. Its irrelevent that our Northern friends might not want us to show we can do the job better than them by giving us more work (though we are probably better at it anyway as we have morale...even in the ops room!) Our trade is at a cross roads. PVR is popular than ever and I cant really blame people for choosing this option. Following the dissapointing result of our recent pay review, the fact that junior ranks are being tasked with doing more roles within the ops room (MC one day??) and now having us do ATC donkey work...what reasons do we have for people to remain? ERS and Falklands? Ok there are a few interesting posts at stations down south and perhaps Waddington ec but ah yes...baby scopies are taking these slots up straight out of training whilst senior SAC's stagnate in CRC's!!

Skylance now there was a wonderful time had by all. Sun was shining for 3 weeks the morale was high and everyone gained what they set out to gain..not that i was involved ...but talkin to a few of them who were involved bet ure surprised to hear it wasnt :PDT_Xtremez_17:

Norfolkred if you substitute everyone with "Aircrew" then you would be about right. We trained using unrealistic scenarios, playing OPFOR and from a deployment training angel gained very little on the surveillance side!

Obviously the 1st Airmen Correction Club got what they wanted out of it. But as long as we can re-arm in the air we will win the battle
