Whoa, whoa, whoa! When I got married in July 06 I applied for DA as I had a change of accomodation entitlement (from private rented to MQ's) and it was rejected for the reasons TBJ stated. I.E. it wasn't because of extra kids ect. So know it would appear that I was incorrectly informed, have I missed the boat, is it too late to get it backdated?

If it turns out you are entitled then you can backdate it as far as last July. The best thing to do is to read the relevant chapter of JSP 752 yourself, since even the shineys on here cannot agree.

I must admit that I had to check, re-check and verify the regs before I confirmed the entitlement but effectively yes, you can claim it as a mid tour move for change in entitlement. Your entitlement (to SFA) has now changed and you can claim DA; I think it has taken a while for us Shiney's to catch on to this as it hasn't been widely publicised and we're not always open to changes but we have checked with Casework staff and they confirm that there is now an entitlement for DA in these circumstances.

As a word of warning though, each case will be different so before you go spending the DA, check with your PSF that they are happy to approve backdated DA. If they still won't pay up, ask them to check with the JPAC PACC or look at the DIN quoted above. Don't forget my 10 % too!!

You're selling yourself short HS :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Only too happy to help! As I said, the regulations needed clarification from the usual ambiguity that we were used to from the AP's. It seems the JSP's are equally vague and there will be many a crusty Chf Clk who will try & stick rigorously to the 'old' regs. Just go armed with a copy of DIN 2006 02-056 and the mid-tour movement para from the JSP 752; hopefully you should get your DA. Additionally single mothers are entitled to DA for moving into SFA as they also have a change in accomodation entitlement.

I was surprised myself but this gen comes on good authority.

Slight problem I may have is that I don't get back from Kandybar till mid July and with PODL it will be aug before I'm back in work. Is there a time limit on getting it backdated? Got hitched and moved in july 06.

Any chance you could summarise what it says in the DIN, I'm in the stan at the mo and acces is somewhat limited. MTIA.

Hopefully not. May have to explain your case ie you weren't aware of the new regs/det etc but you should be able to backdate.

I claimed DA (via JPA obviously) about 7 - 10 days ago. Several days later it came up on JPA 'workflow notifications' that it had been approved. My question is, when will it be paid? Do i now have to wait until pay day and receive it with my monthly salary? Or will it be paid ASAP?
Cheers :)
