Best I give my £969 back then!

It can be done, read the books properly

best you do that then...read them fairly thorughly thanks! nd it clearly states unless you are overseas you cannot have you initial setting up home moved paid for.

We had the same grey area with the rules and somebody contested it, we took it to the PACC and they most definately said no, hey Im all for giving money to people where the rules are lets say not clear discharge and returning your commitment bonus is a good one.

We PACC'd it too when the regs first changed and they said Yes! Admit this was through Inns rather than Glasgow but should be the same regs; we've paid loads of people and don't intend to claim it back. Until PACC get their house in order and clarify their regulations will continue to do so too!

On a similar line of enquiry, I am living in my own home off base and when me and Mrs Ranger tie the knot we are thinking off getting into quarters and rent out my old place (1 bed flat), is there any entitlement to DA as I moved into my own home years ago and paid for it all myself, cheers Shineys...

you cant claim it to move into a quarter from the block, been there PACC'd it got the tshirt

I disagree with the payment of DA on marriage out of principle (and not just because I didn't get it XX years ago!). Whether it's an oversight that there is no specific "first setting up of home" rule now or not, the regs can be interpreted to allow the payment of DA so until/unless that changes let people have the money.

I have been informed that the highly intelligent and gifted administrators at Air Command will be having a look at standardising these regs soon.

You'll be lucky!! Should really come from SP Pol not Air command.

The regs say, 'mid-assignment moves on a change of accommodation entitlement.' You get married, your accom entitlement changes - simple as!

But not recently it seems. The first setting up of home clause has mysteriously vanished.

I'm sorry TLR we seem to have overlooked your question. When you get married your entitlement to service accommodation will change. On that basis you should get DA if you move into quarters immediately following your marriage. I must admit though that I am uncomfortable about that since you already live in your own property so you will be moving house more for convenience than necessity.

But Air Command can have dialogue with Sp Pol and, if Air Comd, particularly A1 Staneval alongwith Corporate Governance, have tangible evidence that the rules are being interpretated differently they will have much more sway with Sp Pol to get the rules clarified and guidance issued to units accordingly.

Cheers TBJ but the move would be into a house from a 1 bed flat, the flat is good when you're on your own but a bit cramped for 2, have looked around into buying but not sure we want that as I've been at my current location for a bit so no doubt the inevitable move will follow.

That's exaxtly what we need FN, a T Letter clarifying SP Pol's stance on this one. I must admit to feeling uneasy about paying on first setting up of home (as TBJ states) but JSP 752 clearly allows this at the moment and no-one should be penalised if that's how their unit has interpreted it thus far.

I look forward to A1 Staneval's intervention in this matter!

Just wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone who offered some help on this thread. I finally got paid the DA in Septembers pay run, result!! The chief clerk did mention however that the "change of accomodation" clause was one of a number of things looking at being modified. Anyway cheers guys.
